They are then sealed with a coat of clear glaze in a final firing, making them food safe. But at 1200 degrees C, underglazes must be made of pretty special chemical components to withstand the heat and still be vibrant.  🟣 Whilst I use lots of underglazes which I have collected from around the world, I really like to make my own. In this video I explain how I mix underglazes, following the recipe given to me at @ceramicstudygroup . It's pretty infallible.
