Alien animals

Now that the art book for Crash Bandicoot 4 is officially out and available, I can share more of my favorite work from the project! One of the assignments I enjoyed the most was to populate the planet of Bermugula with a variety of ambient and gameplay-specific creatures. I went wild looking for ways to answer the different gameplay asks with creature design and had some of the most fun I've had designing :)

An alien rhinoceros based on Earth's rhinos, various reptiles and fish. Here it's rendered in real-time with a low-poly game mesh. It's part of a group of creatures all based on African fauna. The rhino has 2 color variations adapted for life on the savanna and jungle, and 2 rarely occurring melanistic and leucistic color patterns. The low-poly mesh is comprised of body and eye meshes. 6378 polygons in total. The body textures are at 4K and the eyes at 2K. You can get it here…
