Must have for short scale enthusiasts.
These things are incredibly versatile sounding, each of the different pickup settings sound great and well-defined, multiple different genres at your disposal and to top it off they just look so damn cool! The neck single coil chirps and clucks old fashioned, reminiscent tones while the bridge Seymour Duncan humbucker is razor sharp, adding some major power to the sound. Comfortable and very easy to play, a must have for short scale enthusiasts.
IMPORTANT: FLOATING TREMOLO BRIDGE AND STRING GAUGES FOR YOUR MUSTANG
The Fender Dynamic Vibrato bridge that comes equipped is unique and will produce a twang-like finesse, It's a floating tremolo style bridge, which can result in difficulty keeping your mustang in tune. Using light gauge strings on a short scale mustang can sometimes result in a lack of string tension. Removing the springs and locking the tailpiece a.k.a. "hard-tailing" your mustang's bridge, combined with a larger gauge of strings will immediately provide noticeably better intonation, better sustained sound and a much more ideal mustang. this mod is completely optional.

Great guitar
I used this guitar for a while, a friend lent it to me for a few concerts, and what can I say I'm thrilled, insanely cool fender it's a pity that when I was going to buy it from the same friend, he sold it about two or three hours before I told him about it.

Heavy-sounding enough for Stoner Rock?

Perfection
Kurt certainly knew how to customized a guitar. The JB in the bridge really pushes this guitar. The Mustang pickup in the bridge is wonderful for clean sounds, the Tune o Matic bridge is an improvement and the lowered switches is just icing on the cake. It's not a complicated mod from the usual Mustang but the little improvements make this my dream Mustang. The neck is wonderful.

Back to the '90s
The feeling I get when wield this guitar is that the 90s are back. The Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge, me everything I could want from a guitar, her neck is the best neck I've ever played.I would not trade it for anything.

Artist usage
Add artistKurt Cobain designed and sent an idea of a guitar to Fender, in the early 90's. He liked both the Fender Jaguar and Mustang Models, so he got a polaroid of both, cut them in half, and stuck them together. He acquired 4 models of the new and improved Jag-Stang in 1993, 3 of which were blue "Sky-Stangs", and one red "Oranj-Stang"
He rarely used these guitars, and due to his untimely suicide in 1994, they were sold on in auctions or kept as memorabilia.

Ryan has been pictured using his Kurt Cobain Mustang on rare occasions, particularly from 2012-2013
