From the editors

Welcome to the October 2014 edition of the Bugle!

The annual election of the project's coordinators is now complete, and for the first time ever all of the candidates were elected. The new tranche comprises a healthy mix of experienced coordinators and new faces, and is headed by Ian Rose as lead coordinator. The other coordinators are Adamdaley, Auntieruth55, Dank, Dumelow, Hawkeye7, HJ Mitchell, MisterBee1966, Molestash, Nikkimaria, Peacemaker67, Sturmvogel_66 and TomStar81. The coordinators help keep the project ticking over, and editors who wish to raise things with them directly are encouraged to post on their talk page.

The Milhist FA, A-Class, GA and Peer Reviews for July–September 2014 have been tallied, and awards distributed. Dank easily topped the list with an amazing 45 reviews -- you can find everyone's name who contributed reviews at the link above, and we thank all of them for their efforts. Thanks also to Nikkimaria and Peacemaker67 for tallying.

The regular article news section of this edition of the Bugle highlights an unusually large number of new featured pictures (including the project's 300th FP) and an impressive crop of new featured articles. TomStar81 also continues his excellent World War I timeline, which this month's section drawing our attention to many of the little-remembered battles from the early, and highly fluid, stage of the fighting on the western front. The book review section includes a very varied round-up of recent military history book reviews which have appeared in the media, as well as a review by Nick-D of a book on how the British government organised itself to victory in the French Revolutionary Wars and Napoleonic Wars.
