Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Jasen Esposito

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Jasen Esposito requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.gobigrecruiting.com/about. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Mu Septaton?

edit

Hello, BigCheddah - I see you restored the Mu Septaton chapter as an active group at Delaware. Do you have any independent citation about this? I didn't see it on the national website, nor in the Signet, and reviewing the campus Greek Organization page I only see the name mentioned once. It may be a typo for "Phi Kappa Sigma"", which was missing. Further, the Twitter page, at https://twitter.com/phisigud, was last updated in 2014. If true, this would be a welcome addition to both the national fraternity and campus, and certainly the Wikipedia page. Got anything else to show this is legit? See them listed as a member of the UD IFC and on the spring Rush schedule for 2022. Their Instagram is @ud_phikappasigma , I don’t believe it’s common for fraternities to use Twitter anymore. BigCheddah (talk) 18:02, 22 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Are we talking about Phi Sig or Phi Kap? The link above shows the name Phi Kappa Sigma, without a subordinate link to its chapter page. This group is also known as Skulls. They note a prospective Delaware colony on their national website, which as far as I can tell would be a new chapter for them, and is thus unnamed.
Phi Sigma Kappa, or Phi Sig, left the campus after about 20 years in 2014, and while it apparently would be welcome to recolonize, I can see no record of this happening at present. THIS chapter was named Mu Septaton.
Assuming this was an error, I adjusted the list of Phi Sigma Kappa chapters accordingly. Jax MN (talk) 18:16, 22 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
So would it be chartered under a different name for the same university? They got their charter just this year https://www.instagram.com/p/CZptRG7PIWi/?utm_medium=copy_link their name is on the IFC website as a chapter and although this list does have colonies and interest groups like Tau Epsilon Phi on it, I am quite certain Phi Sigma Kappa is a full member. Never mind , you did catch me in an error, I think I had my web pages mixed up. BigCheddah (talk) 18:28, 22 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yep, it was an error. BigCheddah, we appreciate your efforts to update these pages. Don't get discouraged about any correction we provide. You had allowed some formatting errors in these recent additions: simple stuff like lack of a closing ref tag, or omissions of certain formatting or syntax. A comma, for example, was missing in your PSK edit, which would denote when another effort to colonize a campus was made. That change is gone now, as the colony start was in error, and I removed it. I then went to the Phi Kap (PKS) list of chapters on Wikipedia, and added that chapter there. It appears to have been chartered two weeks ago, according to the Instagram link you provided. A tip: As you make edits to lists, observe the way that similar edits had been made. Follow those, as templates. And always 'preview' your changes, to see if an error had crept in. Also, see how these comments are indented? When responding to a Talk page thread, use colons to indent your responses.
You may want to join the Fraternities and Sororities Project, if you have interest. Jax MN (talk) 18:33, 22 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
