Hi. Question...
Err, thanks for saying you'd adopt me. =) I have a question for you...I had uploaded a picture to the Commons and it worked for a couple weeks...but now it's disappeared and I don't know why...help? Young_Cdn (talk) 23:55, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- No problem Young Cdn. Do you think that the image may have been deleted? What exactly was the name if the image (such as Image:Example.jpg)? Arbitrarily0 (talk) 00:53, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- I believe it was CYA-AJC.png. I'm not really sure. I'm thinking I might have messed up on the permissions part of it...what's the best thing to use? Young_Cdn (talk) 01:41, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- Hm, I'm not sure exactly what happened to it. Try following the instructions here. Let me know if you have any problems. Good luck, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 18:32, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- Another one for you... the userboxes...where does one acquire all the different ones? Thanks....Young_Cdn (talk) 05:42, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

b-a-b Question
Thanks for adopting me. Should I talk about every single edit before editing? Or is there a certain number of sentences I can edit before I talk about it? Or is every edit that is not a minor edit get discussed on the the talk page? Thanks, Bab (talk) 02:24, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
- Hi B-a-b, I'm not sure I understand your question. Could you try rephrasing it once for me? Sorry, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 18:30, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- Hope that helps! Bab (talk)
- Also, you forgot to add me to your list of adoptions. Bab (talk) 02:28, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, I've updated my user page. As for your question, you do not need to discuss every single edit you make on article talk pages, unless you think that your change may be controversial. However, as a courtesy to other users, make sure to leave a brief edit summary after your edits. I hope this answers your question. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 20:35, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Star Wars: Battlefront III
Hi. Although, the article was unprotected, that doesn't necessarily mean that it needs to be created straight away. The details surrounding the video game are still unclear, and there is yet to be an official announcement whether the game is or ever will be made. Yes there have been concept renders and rumours. All I'm saying is we should wait until more details become available so that we know where the game stands, and can then create an article from there. Regards, --EclipseSSD (talk) 20:44, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I can understand where you're coming from about the publicity. It is an important factor, but I don't think an article should be created just yet. More information mght be coming soon, when that happens, that will be the best time to create it. Regards, --EclipseSSD (talk) 17:14, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- It's OK with me. The article can be created. I suggest reformatting the references to {{cite web}} to make them look better. And, as this is a game I am looking forward to, I will help when and where needed. --EclipseSSD (talk) 17:33, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- I've reformatted the references and added SW and video game categories to make the page look a bit better. --EclipseSSD (talk) 17:28, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (File:6 Pak video game.jpg)
Thanks for uploading File:6 Pak video game.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:03, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Routinely disappearing images in some of my userboxes
Please take look at some of the Userboxes I have created. Three of them (PUCP, INFORMS, and SIAM) have correct references to images I want to use in them. However, the userboxes display correctly for a day or two, and then the images disappear, getting replaced by the picture size reference (such as "50px"). I've restored them a couple of times already, only to see this recur. Why is this happening? Why is this so fragile?
This does not seem to occur with the fourth one, LIMA_PERU.
Scratching my head in frustration and bewilderment.
Thanks for any help/insight you can provide!
Panicpgh (talk) 22:49, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I am sure this is frustrating; I had this problem once too. It appears that a bot (User:BJBot to be exact) is coming to these pages and canceling out the image (see here and here). It is doing this because the images violate WP:NFCC#9 which states that "Non-free content is allowed only in articles". Basically, those three userboxes use images that are only meant for articles, so the bot automatically removes them. The only options are replace the images with free ones, or just substitute the images for text. Let me know if you have more questions. By the way, your user page is looking great! Cheers, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 23:06, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

dead links question
hi! relatively new user here, saw you on the list of adopters. wondering if you would be willing to adopt me. i often have questions on policy and how to reach consensus when editing. my question now is: how does wiki treats dead links? should the editor who added the content be obliged to find another source? thanks for your time. Untwirl (talk) 17:47, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Untwirl! Sure I'll adopt you! Here's the best way to go aboat treating dead external links:
1. First try to find the current location of the link. If you can find where the content has been moved, replace the dead link with the new link.
2. If you are unsuccessful in finding the link, add {{dead link}} next to the link. This lets other editors know that the link is broken.
Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck! Arbitrarily0 (talk) 17:57, 15 January 2009 (UTC)- thanks for answering so quickly. so i should put a dead link tag next to them? (and how do i do that?) :) Untwirl (talk) 18:03, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- No problem, just click on edit this page at the top, and then paste the text "{{dead link}}" next to the link. Now save the page - and that's it! Let me know how it goes. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 18:13, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Why an {{unreferenced}} on x2x ?
Howdy. Your bot added an {{unreferenced}} to the x2x article I created, but there's no mention of *what* references need to be cited. Why the tag? ◉ ghoti 18:58, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hi! Yes, I used NewPageWatcher (a Wikipedia tool) to add {{unreferenced}} to the x2x page. This is because the page does not cite any reference sources, meaning that none of the content in the page is verifiable. The references should be about the article's content; for example, the line "x2x allows the console (keyboard and mouse) on one X terminal to be used to control another X terminal. It also provides ancilliary functions like clipboard sharing" might need a reference to verify that it's true. Let me know if this doesn't make sense. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 19:55, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- I think that insisting on references for basic facts is too much. The x2x page does include a link to the x2x web site both in its infobox and external links, which contains documentation and source code. Citations are intended to provide credit[1] for quotes, and references to externally-published claims/judgements which if left unattributed might otherwise be confused with original research[2]. Obviously there's a bit of a fuzzy line, but basic descriptions should not require references. And for software, an external link to the "home" of the application is generally accepted as sufficient. For examples of other software packages with unreferenced descriptions, check out the pages for Lynx, AWK or BusyBox. Or pretty much any others on Wikipedia.... I'll remove the {{unreferenced}} tag from the page. ◉ ghoti 20:54, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hi again pmc. Placing an {{unreferenced}} tag on an article does not insist references; it merely places the article in Category:Articles lacking sources, as well as notifies other users that there are no references, in the hopes that some may be added. Unfortunately, the x2x homepage can probably not be considered a reference because it is a primary source. For the most part, Wikipedia's sources come from secondary sources, and that is mainly what the {{unreferenced}} tag is asking for. The articles you pointed out (Lynx, AWK or BusyBox) in fact all do have references (look under the references, books, or notes sections), and therefore, they do not have an {{unreferenced}} tag. Thanks for getting back to me - feel free to do so again, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 21:13, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

non-english sources
how does wiki treat these? Untwirl (talk) 19:07, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
- Unless a source of higher quality exsists in another language, an English source is always preferred (if possible). See here for more information. Hopefully this helps, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 00:59, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
Username concerns at User talk:Teancum
I am confused as to what your concern is? Teancum is a name Teancum that appears to be a popular refernce in some religions. Is this your concern? Chrislk02 Chris Kreider 14:31, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Watchlist question
had another question - not the birds and the bees (this time)- but rather what are the green and red numbers next to pages on my watchlist? thanks. Untwirl (talk) 06:41, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Untwirl! Those red and green numbers on your watchlist show you how much larger (or smaller) a page has become in bytes. If the number is green, the page has increased in size that number of bytes. If the number is red, the page has decreased in size that number of bytes. Sometimes, the number will be gray when the page's size has not changed (0). I hope this helps, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 20:48, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
thanks, that make sense. btw - the change since when? Untwirl (talk) 20:59, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Long article names
Thank you for your interest in the mountains of Korea. The naming of several article has been a major headache for me. To give you an idea of the scope of the problem let's take a look at the article in question. It is one of two identically named mountains that straddles the same two provinces. If you were to write this in Korean script it would come out like this:
- 백화산 (괴산, 충청북/문경, 경상북)
- Baekhwasan (Goesan, Chungcheongbuk-do/Mungyeong, Gyeongsangbuk-do)
The parts of the name break down as follows:
- Goesan => A county Name
- Chungcheongbuk-do => A province name
- Mungyeong => A city name
- Gyeongsangbuk-do => A province name
Its counterpart is:
- 백화산 (영동, 충청북/상주, 경상북)
- Baekhwasan (Yeongdong, Chungcheongbuk-do/Sangju, Gyeongsangbuk-do)
It breaks down like this:
- Yeongdong => A county Name
- Chungcheongbuk-do => A province name
- Mungyeong => A city name
- Gyeongsangbuk-do => A province name
The length of the words is an unavoidable problem when Korean words are transliterated into English. I had been trying to mimic the method they name these kinds of articles on the Korean Language Wikipedia, though it does sometimes look awkward in English because of the length.
The best that I could do would be to drop the names of the provinces. Then the title of the article in question would be Baekhwasan (Goesan/Mungyeong). To date, I had included the names of the provinces as they were for the sake of precision, but I have no problems with making changes. Waygugin (talk) 00:19, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
- I have gone ahead and just made the changes. I will also slowly apply those changes elsewhere in the future. I do have a question. Periodically certain pages that I am working with just need to be speedily deleted. Do you know to whom I can make such a request? Waygugin (talk) 02:38, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
- I like your idea of dropping the province name. If a page meets the criteria for speedy deletion you can place the appropriate speedy deletion template on the page. Administrators will eventually speedy deletion criteria is met. Was that the answer you were looking for? I may not have understood your question. Great job again on your articles. My First Page Got Deleted! Can you help?!
Good morning! Thanks for offering to adopt me! I attempted to write an article about a company, but it was tagged as non-encyclopedic and advertising. I tried to write it as factually as possible, but it still got flagged and deleted. Is there any way you can help? I can send you the content of the article if it would help. Alternately, if you are able to access already-deleted content, the organization's name is Ricno Technologies Inc. Thank you thank you thank you! Mr Richard Richter (talk) 16:48, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, no problem, sorry for the delay. Your deleted page has been copied and moved to your personal sandbox, here: User:Mr Richard Richter/Sandbox (thanks to User:Moonriddengirl). You can edit it there until it is ready. I've read through the article, so here are my suggestions: first, the article needs secondary sources (sources that are not related to the company) to verify the content. Unfortunately, the company website does not count as a source. Secondly, the article needs to show that it is notable, and adheres to the notability criteria for companies. If the company does not meet the notability criteria, it cannot be included in Wikipedia. Do your best to make these changes, then let me know, and I'll take a look. Good luck, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 03:10, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Arbitrarily, I appreciate your assistance, and I will do what I can to find and edit this page to meet Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion. Thanks for your help, and hopefully I'll be in touch soon! Mr Richard Richter (talk) 15:49, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
HELP!
I need help! I'm not even sure I'm doing this correctly! Some friends run a celebrity/news style blog and want a Wikipedia page. They have about 200,000 visitors a month (more by now) and I have volunteered for this. I guess. Is this "allowed"? I somehow doubt it. But I don't want to go to a lot of trouble only to have it deleted.
I'm sort of figuring this out but figured I'd ask this first. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated! TheRealPastafarian (talk) 00:32, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hi TheRealPastafarian, sorry for the delay. I understand where you're coming from. The main issue this blog might have with Wikipedia is its notability. Basically, for the blog to satisfy the notability criteria for web content, it must have been the subject of multiple reliable sources. If the blog satisfies this requirement, and you can verify it, the article is probably fit for Wikipedia (and will not be deleted). You may also want to check out Wikipedia:Your first article. Let me know how it goes. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 01:35, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use Image:Violotta.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Violotta.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. ☼ 06:51, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
- Speaking of images, I also notice a number of other photos you uploaded that are claimed to be GFDL but lack evidence of licensing (e.g. chess player portraits you uploaded last August). I'll tag those and would ask you to go through them and check the copyright information. Thanks, --Fut.Perf. ☼ 07:08, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Hey there
I was wondering your meant to be my Adopter, and said to ask you any question I could have, well, heres my question, in the past you have told me my pages have been deleted because they had no refererences, well my last one that got deleted was Codynz.com, but now my new website CodyCooper.me has refererences from sites such as craigs list and digg, should I now create an article. (Pop by my website too if you want ;) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cody.feilding.nz (talk • contribs) 09:24, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hi again Cody. It's not the lack of references that caused these pages to be deleted, it was the lack of notability. The articles did not "indicate why the subject (the website) was important or significant", therefore they met the speedy deletion criterion A7. References can be used to verify statements that show significance, but first, significance has to be shown. Sorry for the confusion, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 22:59, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Looking for an editor
Hi. Im a new user from Switzerland and swissgerman is my mother tongue, therefore I will mainly contribute articles to the german and to the french Wikipedia. Sometimes, if I think that an article could be from worldwide interest, I will also translate it into english and other languages if necessary. Befor uploading my first english article, I asked somebody, if he would be willing to edit my article when I finish it. He accepted, but he didnt edit it, after I informed him, that the article is ready. Today, another user changed a couple of words (f.e. aswell into as well) but I cant believe that my english is that good, and that this is all that has to be revised. Thats why I would be very glad, if you take a look at the page I created - West Point (1847) and if you could correct any mistakes I made. Furthermore, a bot inserted an orphan-tag. There I could also need your help. The point is... the ship Im writing about, is almost forgotten, aswell as all the companys involved (there are no existing pages about them on wikipedia). So I dont know, from which pages I could establish a link. Could you help me? --Rectilinium (talk) 22:39, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

Moving figures to a translated page
Thanks very much for your offer of help! I want to contribute to this impressive effort by translating Wikipedia articles from German into English. I noticed a request to translate the article on Sven Hedin (it is listed as a recommended article on the German site, and the request was to upgrade the small English site by translating the German version). I have now prepared the translation, using my subpage "Remotesensing/Sven Hedin" for the purpose.
This is my first attempt at producing anything for Wikipedia, and I do not know how to proceed further.
Just editing the English version would not be the way to do it, as I need to have the images moved over, for example. I also don't know what to do about the links at the bottom of the article -- I have translated their language content (but I did not yet copy this onto my subpage).
I have translated the footnotes, but of course they have to be suitably incorporated, something I cannot tackle until I have the final page to work on.
Can you help me? I'd surely appreciate it.

hello~i am interested in getting to know more about wikipedia and my way around it so that i can contribute my efforts toward accuracy and reliable sources. i've relied on it, forever, as a reader, but there's always so much that i feel i could help out with, that's missing, in all the so-many things that i am interested in and know about. i sure don't want to waste anyone's time or make more work rather than less, so if you aren't already too thinly spread, perhaps you would consider adopting me until i get the hang of it? i'm pretty sharp so it wouldn't be a drag for you (i hope). thanks {Anastasia888 (talk) 10:25, 23 May 2009 (UTC))

Adoption Request
Hello. I'm looking for someone to adopt me. I'm a total novice at this point. With the kind assistance of an experienced user I was able to create an article stub Valle de Chalco, but now I need help on Wikitext editing to expand it. I have been referring to the Wikipedia Tutorial, as well as using editing sections of some existing articles as templates. But I am still having problems, e.g. editing code, even when pasted in from another article, does not yield the desired result. Thanks so much for any assistance you can give me, now and in the future. Escuincla (talk) 15:33, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm up for adoption
Hi there Arbitrarily0
I am trying to write an impartial and objective article about a home improvement company in the UK www.onisliving.co.uk. They came up with the NOT FOR SALE estate agent sign campaign then IKEA copied it. In the end they received free advertising for one year from IKEA (a first) [[1]]. They have pioneered some tangible changes in their industry and recently went into liquidation due to a large customer not paying only to relaunch again as as a franchise. The issue is that there are other people writing about the company but they have some of their facts wrong and in some instances are being highly subjective and only telling one side of the story. I should also add that what I have written about this company before has been vandalized and so will no doubt happen again. I am in a good position to write it after working for the company for 4 years and know where to find third party sources. I have started writing already, I don't know if you can view it here?:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Noblestrawberry/Onis_living
I wrote the page on the Mexican artist Gelsen gas and have written some that have been redirected and some that have been removed entirely.
I'd very much appreciate your help to avoid that this time. Many thanks (Noblestrawberry (talk) 00:55, 30 July 2009 (UTC))
Re adopting Noblestrawberry
Hi Arbitrarily0, thanks for the adoption! I would greatly appreciate it if you could read my Onis Living article and let me have your comments and advice on how to make it initially appropriate, and then perhaps great, for Wikipedia.
Many thanks (Noblestrawberry (talk) 23:01, 1 August 2009 (UTC))

Question
hello, I was wondering how you become a moderator and how long it takes and do you need any special requirements. Thanks Olly146
- Hi Olly, by moderator do you mean administrator? There all no official requirements needed to become an administrator, however, the Wikipedia community must decide in favor of your request in order to be granted the rights. Therefore, in order to have a successful request, you must show experience and trustworthiness throughout your edits over a period of time. This period of time has not set length, but more experience is favored over less. I hope this helps, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 20:19, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
Adoption Request
I would like to be adopted by an experienced user who could show me the ropes. It would help me greatly with being able to write a decent article or getting involved in discussions on talk pages. The only thing I am really good at is reverting vandalism to articles. Reverting vandalism does seem to get pretty boring if this is your only contribution to Wikipedia. Furthermore, solely reverting vandalism will not get you recognized by other editors on here nor will you ever be considered for adminship. I would like to be a recognized user on here and hopefully maybe an admin sometime in the future. Thank you. Hmrox (talk) 13:55, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Hmrox, I'd be happy to adopt you. A good way to become recognized by other users is to make contributions to the project namespace, such as requests for page protection, deletion discussions (i.e. AfD), the Village pump, Requests for Adminship, and continued work at AIV, among others. At RfA's, the Wikipedia community also looks very favorably on content creation, especially good and featured articles. Maybe you'd be interested in relieving the backlog or new page patrolling. Take a look at the most wanted articles, and consider creating an article that interests you. Often WikiProjects contain lists of articles that need creation as well. These are just some ideas for areas you might like to help out in, and all are appreciated during an request for adminship. If you do decide to create a new article, let me know so I can take a look at it. Cheers, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 14:44, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Looking for adoption and you sound ideal!!!
Hello AbitrarilyO
My name is David, relatively new, done a few edits, and so far with little changes, and only good comments from others. I have bo ught a book about editing on Wikedpedia as there are hundreds of pages to learn and the book is easier. I have a lot to learn here and need to be adopted. You will see I was "adopted" think by a Polish guy, and the language or race anyone to help me is not relevant, but I have left messages for the person to approach me and nothing happens in a month.
I need advice and help and reading your details there is so much I could learn from you if you were willing. My main areas of writing are UK media, BBC and ITV so far, but could include films and other related topics, the press and books. I want to Ilearn among other things how to start or improve on stubs, some of which I might create, when editing. Basically, I am here to listen and to learn what I can, so my efforts increase and improve, with trial, error and experience
David, as Angliaman
Angliaman (talk) 01:58, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Angliaman, I'd be more than happy to adopt you! I'll do my best to answer any questions you may have. Is there any particular area you'd like to start with? Maybe creating your first article? Let me know, and don't hesitate to ask questions. Cheers, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 02:37, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
- Many, thanks for your quick response, and for adopting me, could you change the logo on my talk page to say now adopted by you. I have not heard rom the other guy or lady once, it was strange. By all means look around at a few of my edits, mainly BBC Birmingham, Play School, Anglia Television. There is a lot of stuff about that is not totally right or could be expanded, but not for the sake of it. The book I have is Wikedpedia The Missing Manual and it seems excellent, so I will use it, side by side things we agree I should do. I have had one or two things slightly edited but not much, as I have checked. I am not sure how to add veryfiable links down at the bottom of articles, but will read up on this. I accept our work may be edited as after all we edit (hopefully for the better) information added by others. I will help out in say something like admin one day if selected, BUT I am too new and need to get to grips with the basics.
- My name is David and I am based in UK, I am not sure what your first name is or where ou are based. i appreciate you taking me on as you appear very busy with several adoptees.
- Lastly, I am not sure how to check to see how many edits I have made, is there a way? I have done about four or five I reckon. But each time, I only change something, if I feel what I can offer adds to the piece. A lot of what I can add comes from my experience of working within BBC and ITV. Not all of it is veryfiable, or if it is, then the info would be in very old paper records of magazines like Radio Times etc.
- I have not spell-checked this message, but will make sure all edits are thoroughly checked.
- Take Care talk soon

- Hi again Angliaman. Sorry for my delayed reply. Your editing looks good, keep it up. A suggestion might be the use of inline citations through the "<ref> </ref>". For example:

- Angliaman (talk) 04:14, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
- You can see more examples of inline citations in most articles, such as the Border Television article. I highly recommend you create your first article, it will give you great experience on how Wikipedia works. Take a look at the most wanted articles, or requested articles if you need ideas. Let me know how it goes. Happy editing, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 12:38, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
- Many thanks for the advice I will try the citations you suggest as thes better verify what I write, and am reading the book, so hope to start some stubs and an article soon. Your advice apreciated and no need to be concerned if it takes you a while to get back, I know you are there for me.
- I tried an External Link on the Border Television page linked to an online article in The New Statesmen from April 2009 that helped verify the article. - I have also joine a Wiki project supporting and updating UK TV channels, but on joining, the logo as not appeared on my profile page whereas the BBC one does. I think this may be because whenh I added my name, I could not get the information right. The viewboxes, it said try

- Angliaman (talk) 02:40, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
<tt>* [http://www.theFullURLHere.com ThePageName (which you must type yourself)]</tt>

- Ah, thank you for organising my profile page, it looks fine. The guy dealing with the British TV projects is going to get back to me too. I will try and rectify the link later tonight, best I try myself!
- Can I delet and clean up some of our discussions in this thread above, and just leave the important bits? Do not want to do this without your permission. Just wanted to delete any clutter no longer needed?
- Angliaman (talk) 17:30, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
- Your welcome. Normally, discussions on talk pages, such as this one, aren't removed. They can serve to help editors with similar queries, and they keep a neat log of a conversation for re-referencing later. Once this page gets too large, I'll archive it into a subpage. One tip for commenting on discussion pages is to indent your comments. For example, if you are to reply to this message, try adding nine colons (":::::::::") before every paragraph. This will indent your response to the right of mine. (Notice I've done this for the rest of the discussion above) Good luck! Arbitrarily0 (talk) 14:19, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
- Angliaman (talk) 17:30, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
- Have added a few changes to Ready Steady Go page, is my editing, one of them substancial still ok? I note that hardly any of my edits have been changed by anyone, so I assume that for the most part my edits are seen as justifiable, ading value to the articles and factual?
- Thanks in advance
- Angliaman (talk) 18:08, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
- You're doing good work, keep it up! My only suggestion is, as before, to add inline citations where appropriate. You'll find that your familiarity with how the wiki works will improve with experience - so keep working at it! Happy editing, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 01:25, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

Good morning, Thanks for that, I am glad you have agreed to adopt me. I have already contributed some articles but I feel as if I am going round in the dark, I really am struggling, I'm hopeless at this.
My latest effort, 'Smailholm, Scottih Borders' is stuck as a draft.
I wrote the article then I tried to make it go live. I was told to move the page. When I tried to move the article it asked me to change the name, which I did, but it still did not go live, what can I do to make it 'live' ?

Hey there, could you help me?
That big box style you have on your user page is great. I took a look at the HTML code on the page, and it completely overwhelmed me. How do you make a boxes format like that? The ArbiterѪ★Ѫ 16:24, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot! Embarrassingly enough though, it overwhelms me too now that I'm looking back at it :) - it's been a while since I've worked with it I guess. My simplest suggestion is to just copy the code below - and make changes where you see fit (such as the colors, positioning, etc.). You can even try adding more boxes by repeating parts of the code. I hope this helps (let me know if it doesn't), and sorry for the delayed reply. Happy editing, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 00:44, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

Someone once said: "The reward for a well-done completed work is... more work!!". And if you want do something bigger, try to tag all the articles in 'Category:Schools by country' with the banner! Cheers. Keep up the good work. --Siddhant (talk) 07:35, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, but just found out, that there is a WikiProject Schools. So should we tag the articles with the School banner or Education banner or both? --Siddhant (talk) 07:42, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
- Your welcome! Since WikiProject Schools is a child project of WikiProject Education it's probably not necessary to tag with both banners ({{WikiProject Schools}} should be adequate). I'll try to go through the category for tagging sometime this weekend (starting with Category:Schools in India). Thanks for the note! Arbitrarily0 (talk) 13:15, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, another question.
So, how do you do that click here thing at the top of your page that makes you leave a new message? Like, it says "click here" to leave me a new message, and it links to the new section. The Arbiter★★★ 02:09, 27 October 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by The Arbiter (talk • contribs)
- Sure, here's the code I use, fitted for your talk page:
<span class="plainlinksneverexpand plainlinks">[http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:User:The Arbiter&action=edit§ion=new <font color=002bb8>click here to leave a message</font>]</span> - This will produce: "Arbitrarily0 (talk) 13:13, 28 October 2009 (UTC) ". The key part is the "&action=edit§ion=new", which makes the new section. Happy editing!
Thanks so much for all your help you've given me! The Arbiter★★★ 00:21, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
The Arbiter has given you a fresh piece of fried chicken! Pieces of fried chicken promote WikiLove and hopefully this piece has made your day a little better. Spread the WikiLove by giving someone else a piping hot piece, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend. Bon appetit!
Spread the tastiness of fried chicken by adding {{subst:GiveChicken}} to their talk page with a friendly message, or gobble up this chicken the giver's talk page with {{subst:MunchChicken}}!!
- Well, I must admit I've never had Wikipedia-style fried chicken before, but it is delicious! Thank you! :D Arbitrarily0 (talk) 01:45, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
Did I forget to thank you? ..
- Thank you for running! Cheers, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 13:14, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
Thanks
.. For pointing out and then helping me fix my slight whoopsy ( 'run away' would've been the usual response ) :) Thank you for joining the Wikipedia:Help Project, - you asked if there was anything you could help with ... my main task at the moment is finding all the help pages and tagging them with the banner - I see a section on your user page ( great style by the way) which must've been designed for me! Would the bot be suitable for this task and how easy is it to set up ? I'm hoping the project will provide a place to meet / home for all those kind editors in the various areas of the help system - I keep encountering all sorts of isolated groups, and some gnomes. The tagging is already starting to draw editors in (as you have just found!), but once the tagging is done we can get our bearings and then the fun can really begin :) L∴V 00:12, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- Alright, I'll take a look at it as soon as I get a chance. Standby :) Arbitrarily0 (talk) 13:39, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well, it looks like AutoWikiBrowser (the client that the bot runs through) is currently not functioning with media wiki. As soon as it is up and running again, I'll start the automated tagging - hopefully it won't take too long for the new version to work. Sorry for the delay, I'll let you know when it's ready :( Arbitrarily0 (talk) 13:35, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- It wasn't me - I didn't touch merely hinted at its existence! That's great - does that mean it is doable? There were over 300 pages and it would be a great relief to not have to do them all fully manually! Although the tagging process has been useful in getting a feel for the network of pages, I can get that grasp from a second pass though - double checking categories etc. ... cheers L∴V 19:17, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- Really? You were on of my top suspects! Anyways, yes, I think it's very doable, but I'll know more once AWB is up and running again :) Cheers, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 02:16, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Again, sorry for the all that delay just to find out it wasn't possible. :( Let me know if there's something else I can do, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 22:48, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- Never mind - we tried! Thanks for the link I'll add it to the project, I was using Search for all "prefix:Help:" pages as a number of help pages are in wikipedia namespace ! As for something else - I could do with a second opinion on the help project itself. All these banners may attract the quiter help pages editors, but is it inviting and does it provide the right tools for the job . Ok I'm working on scope first in tandem with tagging the banner, along the way I keep getting sidetracked by articles in dire need of attention. I am to get a mini guideline up and a possible help navbox. I hope I haven't inundated the project with too many ideas ! Lee∴V (talk • contribs) 23:27, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

- Good news - I've wangled it! I'm managing to get AWB tagging so I don't have to do it by hand after all! Ok can't attack the articles from the front, I'm just going in through 'links from page' or various categories, but that's also helping me pick up problem areas in the structure and get a better grok of it at the sametime... either that or its magic :) Lee∴V (talk • contribs) 03:11, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Hey
Hi there. I was just taking a look through your contributions, and I was curious if you'd like to consider running for adminship sometime in the future. You seem to have quite a bit of wiki-experience, so personally I feel you'd be a great admin. What do you think? –Juliancolton | Talk 19:40, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for your kind words Julian! I'd be very willing to run for adminship sometime in the future. Maybe it would be wise to start with some admin coaching first? I had a few goals that I might like to wrap up as well (such as a GA or two) in the near future. Your thoughts on a time frame? You would know best! :D Thanks again, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 01:13, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well, if you'd like to do coaching for a while, then sure. –Juliancolton | Talk 00:15, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
- Only if you'd think that would be the best route. In your honest opinion, knowing that I'd be willing to run for adminship, what would be the best course of action? Like I said before, you'd probably know better than I would :-) Arbitrarily0 (talk) 01:34, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
- Alright. I've created User:Arbitrarily0/Admin, so go ahead and answer those questions if you get a chance. I'll then review your set of answers and base my decision off of that. Sound good? –Juliancolton | Talk 19:51, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

And still another question...sorry
I saw that you have account creator rights. How did you get that? I cannot find that anywhere. Also, my application for an account on the account creation interface is still pending. Any idea what's wrong? The Arbiter★★★ 23:20, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- Your request for access to the interface should be handled soon, at least by 48 hours. Once you've gained some experience with the interface, you can request account creator rights here. By the way, you're welcome to become an adoptee of mine, that way you won't feel guilty about asking questions :D Let me know how it goes, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 02:24, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- Hmmm, it's been more than 48 hours. I'll give it a few more days. Oh no, I was thinking about beginning to adopt some users. Am I not ready? The Arbiter★★★ 02:01, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- Well, the adopter criteria can be found here, and you seem to meet all of those requirements (i.e. 600/500 edits). As long as you feel comfortable answering all sorts of Wikipedia-related questions, go for it. For me, it seems like I've learned more from my adoptees than they have from me! Arbitrarily0 (talk) 15:38, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

I need a little help...
So how do you make your pages look like that... Gammaraptor (talk) 16:52, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
- Do you mean the formatting of my user page? Look through this discussion here, it should give you the general idea. I recommend experimenting with the different styles you see. Copy the source code of something you like and then make your own personal adjustments. Let me know if this doesn't make sense. Cheers, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 20:33, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
Groan...
The fact that I don't have account creator rights frustrates me. They want people to reach the 6-a-day limit before getting the rights, but at the same time, I can't reach the limit if there are accounts I can't create that are too similar. The Arbiter★★★ 00:53, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
- Patience friend! ;) More importantly than hitting the 'six-a-day' limit, the account creator rights-granting administrator wants to see that you are thoroughly experienced with the tool. It will take time to gain this experience, so have patience with it. I highly recommend that you join the team at #wikipedia-en-accounts connect, where you can collaborate with the other users and learn more about how the process works. I hope to see you there! Arbitrarily0 (talk) 01:07, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
Mmm...Ok, sorry, got a little worked up there. Yeah, that doesn't work for me...nothing happens when I click the IRC link. What can I do? Oh, by the way, good luck on the RfA! The Arbiter★★★ 01:22, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, I appreciate it! In order to join #wikipedia-en-accounts connect you'll need to download an IRC client (similar to an internet browser, accept for IRC). This will allow you to open the link. Help with using IRC with Wikipedia can be found here. Let me know how it goes, or if you need some more detailed instructions. - Thank you very much! Don't worry, it's been no problem at all - keep the questions coming! Arbitrarily0 (talk) 02:33, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I actually have two questions. First of all, on the Account Creation Interface, how do you know when there is a new request? I have to keep refreshing the page. Also, with non-free use images, pictures for bands that are together and playing are not allowed, right? The Arbiter★★★ 02:48, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, there is an IRC bot at #wikipedia-en-accounts connect which notifies the channel whenever there is a new request - that way, you won't have to keep refreshing the page. To answer your second question, no, such a picture would not be allowed. Since the band is still together, it is assumed that a new, free picture would serve as a replacement. I hope this helps, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 14:12, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- The thing is, the band I am talking about is a band in which none of the identities of the members are known. In fact, no one knows who the individuals are, because they are hidden by their costumes. It is even rumored that there are Grammy winners among them, but no one knows who. - Very interesting ... :) I'd be happy to take a look at this if you'd like. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 02:46, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
- The band is called Here Come the Mummies. Also, I downloaded mIRC, but I am still confused. Do I just go ahead and sign on to the channel? When I tried that, there was nobody there. The Arbiter★★★ 22:46, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

By the way, something that is frustrating me, is that when it came to the Windows Police Pro article, I did most of the cleanup. Kwai Nyu
Ah, I see you're very new to the business of deleting articles. Congratulations!
The proponents of "Kwai Nyu" seem rather persistent. I think it would be a good idea not only to delete (as you did) but also to salt (which I don't think you did): doing so could well save time in the future -- Hoary (talk) 03:33, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

Please relist my Techno bass article!
I did not make up the name of that sub-genre of electro music called Techno bass at will! That name has been around since the early and mid-nineties! It is true that I created the article AND I have created a website called Technobass.net - but these items are homages to the sub-genre of music that was around before me! I am friends with Aux 88 who are the ones who made up the term. They are known as one of the original creators of the style and their music has had a massive influence on electro music.
HEre are some more articles to prove it - these are from independent sources:
http://www.detroittechnomilitia.com/main/content/view/122/169/
"Now it was time for him to focus and channel his energy into POSATRONIX, and Direct Beat was certainly behind him. Bj reached into his bag of tricks and pulled out a record call "Shake it". Little did he know, this would go on to be a Detroit Classic as well. He would later record some of the " POSATRONIX" catalog on Direct Beat with such records as: DANZ, NIGHT VISION, 142 mph and a host of other POSATRONIX material. He would then later release "CONDOR" (The Auxmen) and "The Hubble: Posatronix Mix" on "Puzzlebox Records". Bj also gave a sample of what’s to come on the release of "POSATRONIX 2010". Credited as one of the pioneers of the Detroit Electro Techno Bass movement, William (Bj) Smith continues to amaze us with a unique sound of his own. "

Techno Bass genre - Mostly a phenomenon in Detroit (the techno side) and Miami (the bass side), Techno Bass is a fusion of electro, bass music, and techno with spartan production values and a retro atmosphere. In Detroit, the fraternal 430 West and Direct Beat labels are the home to the best techno bass acts (AUX 88, DJ Di'jital, Will Web, Octave One, Wild Planet) as well as the crucial compilation Techno Bass: The Mission.

"DIRECT FROM DETROIT AN AUX 88 live performance PUZZLEBOX . SUBMERGE . DIRECT BEAT
Since forming in 1993, Detroit-based electro-techno group AUX 88 have spearheaded a '90s-style rewrite of the breakbeat electro-funk of the early Motor City sound. Often referred to as techno bass, the style integrates elements of early Detroit and New York electro, Miami-born bass music, and the dark, gritty analog edge of Detroit techno. Funkshun is honored to welcome the Auxmen, Keith ‘K-1’ Tucker and Tommy Hamilton, to Philadelphia for the first time. Their new self-titled album is being released this Fall on Submerge Recordings.
Together, in 1985 accompanied by Anthony Horton, Tucker and Hamilton formed RX-7. RX-7 was a live band that performed inspired cover versions of Cybotron and Model 500 tracks. It wasn't so much that they were trying to break new ground by playing live-they knew no other way. MIDI and sequencers were virtually unheard of; especially to two east side Detroit boys who simply had a love for the music. Tucker, an avid sci-fi fan started to buy older models of analog gear and pursue sending out demo tapes to various local Detroit Techno labels. He received a response from Metroplex Records; Juan Atkins label, and signed as Frequency. Under this alias, Tucker recorded such tracks as, "Television, Frequency Express,” and “New Jack House." On the track "New Jack House," Darren Muhammad of Adrenalin M.O.D. did the vocals and Juan Atkins did the mixes. Tucker learned a lot from his experiences with Metroplex Records
In September of 1992, while working on new tracks for Metroplex Records, Tucker received a visit from Tommy Hamilton. They brought their experiences together to form AUX-88, and found that their music talents had matured since the early 1980's. Using their Detroit Techno background, the two quickly accumulated a mass of new tracks together, as well as individually.
The reunification of Tom Tom and Tucker found that their time apart had done them both good. With a renewed sense of purpose, they put together a fusion of styles and added Anthony Horton and vocalist Andrea Gilmore to become...Sight Beyond Sight. SBS was soon signed to 430 West Records. While SBS enjoyed a degree of success, Tom Tom and Tucker made the decision to continue with the bass heavy techno they had began with some time earlier. 1993 saw this return to their roots as the birth of Aux 88.
As Aux took off, SBS was put on hold and the other members went to work on individual projects. Then, as if to acknowledge the move, Aux 88 released "My A.U.X. Mind" which went on to become a Detroit classic. Putting the icing on the cake, Aux 88 joined up with Mad Mike Banks to perform with Juan Atkins as Model 500 on the 10th anniversary of his label, Metroplex. However, the evolution of Aux 88 was not over. In 1995, desiring to do more experimental tracks, Tucker went solo and created his own label called Puzzlebox inspired by close friend Anthony Shakir.
Tom didn't miss a beat. Reuniting with BJ (Posatronix) former dancer, Aux 88 went on to release the full length CD, "Man or Machine." Touring both the US and Europe, and with video airplay on MTV's AMP, Aux 88 began the process of turning on the planet on to their techno/bass/dance fusion. Still, it was not enough. Aux had already made a name for itself via live performances. As individuals who had been deep in the scene long before recording music, they knew they had to take it to the next level. Acting on a tip from another recording artist on 430 West, Octave One, Tom met up with the young DJ Di'jital.
Already established in the Detroit underground scene, Di'jital joined the Aux 88 live show. As Aux played live, Di'jital mixed an array of music. The effect was that of an electrified old school hip hop show. It isn't accidental. Aux 88 is one of the few who remember that techno has its roots in the hip-hop of pioneers like Afrika Bambaataa, Planet Patrol and Newcleus. If anyone mistakes their live show as a scaled down electronic hip hop oriented Parliament show, well, you're not too far off the mark. After the success of "Man or Machine," BJ left to explore other musical realms while Tom Tom went on to record "Xeo-Genetic," the last Aux offering on Direct Beat records. The Album received two Detroit Music awards for Best Artist and Best Recording.
2002 saw what seemed to be a return of aux 88 as the Auxmen to close out the 2002 Detroit Electronic Music Festival. Tucker was asked to close out the festival on the main stage with a history of techno. Seeing and knowing that the only group to pull it off was Aux88, Tucker elected to change the name to the Auxmen and perform with all members of aux88. Unfortunately Tom was not available to perform, but instead sparked some releases that fueled the now current return of Aux88 to the electro scene exclusively on Puzzlebox Records. New LP coming entitled AUX88.
I choose to promote this term for this style of music and work to document it's REAL history on the internet (including wikipedia) because "electro" music is such a broad term to refer to the many sub-genres that exist today. THere are MANY styles of electro music and they vary greatly. It is not sufficient to call all styles of electro music this one term. Techno bass music first developed in the early nineties in Detroit and has spread across the world and has now grown to encompass the musical styles of hundreds of artists across the globe! It is true that I started the website TechnoBass.net - but the website merely exists as a music community that is comprised of hundreds of people who either produce or enjoy the style of music we call "Techno Bass".
Please, re-list my page! If you need anymore information or articles from ,me let me know and I will find more. I am not speaking merely for myself, but for a large group of musicians who identify their music's identity with this sub-genre. There are many other wikipedia articles that are still linking to this page - and those links were created by other people because they recognized this sub-genre as legitimate.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Starrie Williamson Starriebird (talk) 16:35, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Starrie, thanks for your note. There doesn't seem to be much doubt that the sub-genre techno bass exists. However, in the past AfD, it was determined that there weren't enough reliable secondary sources to make an article out of it. My suggestion is to rewrite the article at User:Starriebird/Techno Bass, incorporating all of your sources. Judging by how it looks, we'll decide where to go from there. If you want, I'll restore the old article here. Cheers, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 20:40, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, please restore the article and I will work on it. Thank you very much! Starriebird (talk) 21:40, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, I believe I misspoke. Since the article was deleted via AfD, you're best bet is to follow through the processes at deletion review. At deletion review you'll need to prove that "significant new information has come to light since a deletion and the information in the deleted article would be useful to write a new article." Just make your case there as you did here, if you think it's appropriate, and best of luck to you! Arbitrarily0 (talk) 23:27, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Closed page move
You closed this the other day. Considering that the only argument to keep the current title (that it happens to be her current working name) is far weaker than the argument to move, what was your rationale for closing as no consensus? Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 13:55, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Chris. I have been using the rationale "no consensus for move" to close debates where the result is "no consensus" and "page not moved" ("no consensus for move" was intended to be a catch-all for "no consensus closures" and "not done closures"). In other words, I didn't mean to close as 'no consensus', just as 'it won't be moved'. Judging by your concerns, it seems like this wasn't the correct approach, since the rationale is apparently misleading. I've fixed my rationale on the discussion you mentioned, and will revisit my other closures soon. Is this okay? Arbitrarily0 (talk) 16:26, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- I think you've misunderstood. From what did you draw your conclusion that the page was not to be moved? Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 17:14, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- Ugh, clearly I need more sleep: looking back, my rationale for closing as I did was disjointed to begin with. I've gone ahead and relisted the discussion, as well as added my support. I'm terribly sorry about all this, and I hope the issue is fixed now. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 17:36, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

- No problem at all, sorry again for the confusion. While were at it (and now that I've had some rest), can I ask your opinion on something? Is there any problems with using "no consensus for move" as a closure rationale for both 'no consensus' and 'not moved' closures? Arbitrarily0 (talk) 01:48, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
- Excellent. Thanks. By the way, congrats on adminship. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 23:38, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- "No consensus, defaulting to no move" might be clearer. That's usually the way I've seen it phrased at AfD. In general I'm in favour of closing admins leaving a summary sentence explaining their rationale: obviously this takes more time though. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 07:49, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)
Regarding your move of " You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)", we do not name articles based solely on the typography of the single cover; we name articles based first on WP naming conventions. There's no reason to ignore WP conventions for this single, and I've moved it back. — John Cardinal (talk) 01:33, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Re: Sargus
Hi, I am writing to you in regards to the deletion of the page I created about Sargus. This is the second time it is deleted. The first time it was deleted because the info I wrote was seen as perhaps a promotion to the man. This time around you said I failed to explain the importance of this individual, which I find outrageous, as he is so well known in our community (people in the spiritual world, mentalism, paranormal activities), than it just answers your question by itself. There are thousands of people interested in finding out about him, as he does not advertise on internet, so those lucky enough to have attended some of his sessions decide to get together and put something in writing to the rest of the world and we are told we do not explain the importance of this man. One other important information would be that he has done 16 sessions this year only to capacity crowds of over 12000 people each time, do you still ask yourself what is the importance of this man?
I look forward to your response, thank you for your time.
Regards

- Greetings John! On Wikipedia, "a person is presumed to be notable if he or she has received significant coverage in reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject." Do you know of any reliable secondary sources about this person? Unfortunately, it isn't enough to say that this person is notable in your community, unless you can verify this through reliable sourcing. Jeylina Ever
I have not had luck with this artist! Angelinasweet (talk) 14:29, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- Aye. Yes, the articles for deletion discussion (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jeylina Ever) determined that this person didn't meet Wikipedia's notability criteria for creative professionals. If you're looking to create another article, consider looking through the requested articles for ideas. Cheers, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 14:43, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- If I created the article again but with the references under the name of his previous life as a man? Does the French national media are valid?Angelinasweet (talk) 15:49, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- The problem is that the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jeylina Ever came to the conclusion that Jeylina Ever just didn't have enough secondary source coverage to have his/her own article. The gender tense used probably won't affect how the article stands up to notability. Let me know if this doesn't answer your question. Cheers, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 17:45, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Old Adelaide Family
Hi, I was wondering if you could have a quick look at this [page]. It's somewhere between an article and a category. I would like to nominate it for deletion as I think there's zero evidence to support the existence of such a family. I prodded the page but the creator reminded me that there's no need for it to meet notability requirements since it's technically a category. Can you kindly advise as to how I should proceed? Regards Hazir (talk) 04:02, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Hazir! I'm not familiar with the "Old Adelaide Family", but my recommendation is for you to bring your issues up at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion. This will create an open discussion about the category, and should solve any problems. Try following the instructions here to list the category. Good luck! tough decision
You have made a tough decision about Micheale Salahi. Now that the biographical article is kept, perhaps the gatecrashing article is too much repetition for now? If the gatecrashing event turns into firing of Secret Service bigwigs and continued references to the event, particularly if a special name is given, like Balloon Boy, then the article can be written. Is this logic reasonable? Or should there be no consideration of whether or not there's a biography when deciding the event article? Suomi Finland 2009 (talk) 01:42, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Just a note on Michaele Salahi
Don't worry, not objecting to your close, even though I voted delete! I think the close is reasonable, based on the discussion, but it does seem like your closing argument is more like a !vote than a summary of the discussion. I understand it must be very difficult closing contentious AfDs, and people have been asking for more explanation of the reasons recently. If you had said that the 'Keeps' had the stronger arguments then that would probably be fine and not particularly contentious. I've seen a few DRV discussions on the basis of the closing admin using a 'casting vote' rather than assessment, and if DRV can be avoided then that's only a good thing as far as I am concerned! Quantpole (talk) 14:03, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
- I agree. I !voted keep and agree with the content of your summary, but it was too much like a !vote. Next time focus on the debate itself and your evaluation of it. Best of luck! Hobit (talk) 21:07, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you both for your comments. It wasn't my intention to make it appear like a !vote, but I can definitely see how it would look this way. I'm guessing it would be too late to make an alteration to the closing statement at this point, no? Cheers, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 02:36, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi, no offence, but I think what you've done here is to give your opinion as to how BLP1E ought to be interpreted. That's fine - BLP1E is something that's open to various interpretations. However, giving an opinion as to one policy is not what a closer is there to do. You are there to interpret the consensus of the discussion and as someone who didn't participate, I certainly don't think your views reflect that consensus. (Indeed you appear not to have commented on what the consensus was at all.) Personally, I find the article unacceptable for inclusion and I think the genuine concerns in the debate reflect that. I'm asking you to reconsider your closing. I'm probably going to seek a deletion review on this, but I thought I'd let you respond first.--Scott Mac (Doc) 15:28, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
- Greetings Scott Mac! No offense taken! I'm not sure what to say, except that my only intention in closure was to derive consensus, and clearly my rationale didn't do a near justice in explaining myself. But whether in the closure or the rationale itself - yes, I definitely made a mistake here. However, at this point, I feel it's too late to change the closure, no? Too much discussion has already resulted. BLP1E is something that will likely need modifying (in one way or another) in the future, and this is a good example to bring those issues up with. Therefore I encourage you (please!) to bring this to deletion review, it's too much for just one person like me to decide on. Looking forward to hearing back from you, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 15:48, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Kudos for the way you've taken the criticism. Most people here tend to dig in their heels and defend the indefensible when criticised. You've had the grace to review your action, admit your mistakes and learn from them - admirable qualities all.--Scott Mac (Doc) 21:49, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

I really needed to see an administrator/editor handle things in this way. You have my total respect, thank you and continue your good work, --CrohnieGalTalk 11:44, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
DRV Outcome
I have closed the DRV as overturn to no-consensus. You deserve credit for taking on a difficult AFD close where I know many experienced admins would fear to close the original AFD on the grounds that it was bound to go to a nasty DRV - which it did. The calm way you handled the pressure does, in my opinion, reflect extremely well on your qualities and augers well for your future admin career, but I hope you will not mind my suggesting that this kind of AFD is not for the fainthearted and that, should the opportunity arise again soon to close a similar discussion, you think long and hard about whether you feel brave enough to go through this again! Still, it could be worse, I had an admin RFC against me in my very first week as an admin so your welcome into the ranks has been relatively painless bn comparison. (plus I bet I get flack for the DRV close too). Spartaz Humbug! 10:47, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for your note Spartaz. I take very kindly your suggestion, but I suppose somebody has to take the flack for closing controversial AfD's. This time it was my turn, and maybe it will be again in the future. Although they're not to be embraced, DRV's aren't so terrible anyways, as long as you go in smiling :) Thanks again, and for taking the time to close that DRV, cheers! Just noticed that the page on George Bradt (me) has been re-tagged for possible deletion. There was a whole discussion around this in November and you closed the discussion with a Keep decision. During that discussion others modified the article to put in more references. Given my clear COI, I'm refraining from touching this page. How does this work? I tagged Invictus (Daniel Gray album) as a {{db-a9}}
. That criteria states:
This page may meet Wikipedia’s criteria for speedy deletion as an article about a musical recording that does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject, and where the artist's article has never existed or has been deleted.
You removed the tag with an edit summary of "declined speedy deletion A9: artist's article has previously existed."
Yes, the article Daniel Gray (Entertainer) existed, and was deleted. That's why I tagged the album's page as being an article about a recording where the artist's article… has been deleted.
What I don't understand is why you removed the CSD tag with an edit summary that agreed with the CSD. I'd appreciate it if you could explain this to me. Dori ❦ (Talk ❖ Contribs ❖ Review) ❦ 00:02, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

- Great! I'm glad to see you have enthusiasm about the project - I'd be happy to adopt you. Let me know of any specific questions or goals you'd like to start with. Cheers, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 22:53, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
- First, I see that a lot of ppl have formated their user pages to have "email me" links, etc... How do you do that? Also, how do I patrol for vandals? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrmewe (talk • contribs) 22:59, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
- A good way to figure out a userpage design is to copy the source code of a design you like, and then modify it to fit you. Is there a specific userpage that I can help you model yours off of? To start vandalism patrolling, consider looking into Special:RecentChanges. Once there, you can use the undo feature to revert vandalism. Let me know if you need more specifics. - I like how you have the header at the top of the user page. I also like when people have a lot of creative badges on the right hand side of the page... And also, how do you make the icon for your username so it shows up whenever you sign something? mrmewe 00:10, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
- Okay, well for my user page, check out the discussion here (and then click [edit] to view the source) - that should give you an idea of how mine works. By creative badges do you mean userboxes? If so, try reading about them here, and let me know if I can help with them. For your signature (which is created by typing "~~~~" (remember to do this after all comments to discussions)), you can edit it at your preferences (at the signature area). Let me know if you want help customizing yours. I hope this helps you, cheers! Arbitrarily0 (talk) 02:20, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
- When you're trolling for vandalism how do you make sure multiple editors don't warn somebody on the same post? mrmewe 14:51, 31 December 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrmewe (talk • contribs)
- Hi Mrmewe, by 'trolling' I hope you mean patrolling (because trolling is something I recommend you avoid) :) Normally the editor who reverted the edit will also be the one to warn the editor. Does that make sense? Also, remember to sign your posts on discussion pages, like this one, with "~~~~". Cheers, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 15:11, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
