Help me!

edit

I have been editing documents from "linked misspellings" page. Can you find which among the two words "lwow" and "lviv" is right?ie. i need to get the right word among the two words.

Please help me with...

That may depend on context and is best discussed on the relevant article's talk page. Our article on the town is at Lviv, but the other transliteration is also common. Huon (talk) 11:43, 18 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I saw that you changed quite a few categorizations from "Category:Action adventure films" to "Category:Action-adventure films". If you check the latter category, you'll find that it says it should be empty. If you think the category should be renamed to the hyphenated name, please make use of WP:CFD instead of changing the categorization manually. Your request at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

edit

I removed your request [1] for an edit to User talk:Malcolmxl5/Archive 3.

  1. It's another user's talk page so it really isn't your place to change anything on it or request changes to it. See WP:TALKO
  2. It is inactive as it is an archive, so there is little point in cleaning it up. Note the comment This is an archive of past discussions. Do not edit the contents of this page. at the top of the page.
  3. It's not just an archive, it's an 8-year-old archive so it's really not worth doing anything about it.
  4. If the extra colon really is a problem then just follow the instructions on user:Malcolmxl5's talk page for what to do if his talk page is protected, as it currently is. There is a link to User talk:Malcolmxl5/Unprotected talk page where you will be able to leave a message. Meters (talk) 01:06, 23 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Help me!

edit

I would like to know the method by which I can resolve the problem Articles which use infobox templates with no data rows.

Adithyak1997 (talk) 11:04, 22 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Infoboxes are optional. If an article has an infobox where the required fields cannot be filled in (option 1), then there is always the option (2) of removing it or (3) replacing it with a different infobox template for which the parameters can be filled in. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 14:05, 22 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
So the condition for removing a page from that category is that all the required fields must have some value. Am I right? Adithyak1997 (talk) 14:12, 22 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
It's hard to know what you mean; you didn't mention a category before.
No, some fields in some infoboxes are optional and can be left blank or omitted entirely. The template documentation for the specific infobox should indicate which parameters are optional and which parameters are dependent on other parameters. A few things to look out for: parameters left blank still need to have their equals sign, whitespace characters that are not actual 0x20 space characters may be seen by the software as part of a parameter name and give an "unknown parameter" error. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 20:55, 22 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Ok. Thanks for replying. Adithyak1997 (talk) 03:00, 23 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for being dense. I now see that you are talking about Category:Articles which use infobox templates with no data rows.
I looked at a couple of articles in that category and found it a bit mystifying - the category description says it is applied when an infobox template is used with NO parameters, not just missing parameters. In the cases I looked at, it seems the visible infobox template was calling another infobox template. Tracking down where the category membership is triggered ultimately eluded me. In the case of 11 Downing Street, one example I looked at, I suspect it has something to do with an embedded mapframe, since that template is also throwing a tracking category Category:Infobox mapframe without OSM relation ID on Wikidata. In the case of 1st Step to Heaven, the {{extra album cover}} (which, despite its name, calls the infobox module) looked like a suspect, but it has parameters, too.
Whether these cases are representative of what you were looking at, I can't say. It may be that you'll get better answers by asking at The Village Pump - Technical. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 05:31, 23 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Now that you've got me started on this, I keep looking for more information.
First, the talk page of the category has some discussion already that relates to your question. Category talk:Articles which use infobox templates with no data rows.
And the archived discusson at WP:Village pump (technical)/Archive 130#Category:Articles which use infobox templates with no data rows - how does an article get into this category? sheds a bit more light. Still, with over 60,000 pages in this maintenance category, there does not seem to be much priority for fixing it or for explaining how it might be fixed. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 05:50, 23 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Regarding "user rights issue"

edit

I had just read your discussion in Village pump (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_(policy)#Help_interpreting_policies) when I got an alert that a bot from another wiki (wish I'd grabbed a screenshot) had left a message for me on my Talk page. There was nothing new on my Talk page, but the alert still showed so I clicked the alert. It immediately change every page on Wikipedia.com to that insane font that was on the person's user page that you were asking about. Fortunately, logging out cleared it; when I logged in again, fonts were normal.

I guess my point is that person's user page might have been hit with the same weird bug/virus that came to me via alert, and also, is there somewhere to let somebody know that something weird is going on? Schazjmd (talk) 00:39, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Xaosflux: I am sorry to inform you that it's not for English Wikipedia. I am actually one of the editors who deals with very basic technical side of Malayalam Wikipedia which includes script errors, citation errors, etc. As what I have understood, the technical side is not very much active there. So, what I does is that I used to import modules from English wiki and translate them. Currently, when I saw a file missing with .css, I simply checked the page content model as sanitized CSS which led me to ask it here. I actually have doesn't need one here. Vasanthi

edit

Hey! Do you have a source that Vasanthi (2020 film) was released in 2020? I know it has won Kerala State awards, but I know that they sometimes award films that haven't been released yet. I looked back in December and I could not find any evidence that the film was released to theatres or had a premiere or anything. BOVINEBOY2008 14:52, 18 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately, I am pretty not sure. I have just one source, but not sure whether its true - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13270388/. In this url, it states that the release date is 13 February 2021. I don't have any other info regarding that. Now, if the question is why I suggested such a move, I thought that a movie gets an award only when it is released. I was not knowing that there are movies which gets award before release. Adithyak1997 (talk) 16:29, 18 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
