'Handbook of British Chronology' 2nd ed P377 says that he was Church of Ireland bishop of Elphin in addition to Clonfert from 1551/2 until 1580. However, P 409 says that the Roman Catholic bishop, Bernard O'Higgin, 'left Ireland during the last years of the reign of Henry VIII, but returned under Mary'. As Mary Tudor became Queen in 1553, it looks as if de Burgo ceased to be bishop of Elphin during her reign. Does anyone have more information? Alekksandr (talk) 21:59, 20 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
