My brother could of had a stroke Thursday morning. It was in the pons. He is the first one the doctors have seen that didn't result in death or complete loss of mental function. Everyone please help. Thank you.

Pons strokes don't necessary cause death or loss of mental function. They may, if extensive, cause "locked-in syndrome", for which I suggest you Google if this is the case. Otherwise the cerebrovascular accident page covers most about strokes in general. I hope your brother will be doing better soon. Make sure they give him TED stockings and - if the stroke was not a bleed - prophylaxis with low-molecular weight heparins. JFW | T@lk 07:21, 6 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

"Pons" not a first name

edit

Iff pons was named after a Varolius/Varolio or some such, his first name was for certain not "Pons", which is not a personal name at all. Rursus dixit. (mbork3!) 18:26, 31 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

I think you've misunderstood. The article does not suggest that Pons was the first name of Varolio. "Pons Varolio" is another name for the pons -- it means "the bridge of Varolio", since pons means bridge. Reidlophile (talk) 20:28, 7 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Need for a section about physiology

edit

There is no section alluding to the pons function. There should be a functional as well as structural and verbatim definition included.
