Windows Me

edit

Windows Me shipped with a non-final version of IE 5.5[1], but I can't find out which one. The chart currently incorrectly says that Windows Me shipped with a version of IE that was released in July 2000. - Josh (talk | contribs) 16:35, 21 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Maybe 5.50.4134.0100 rather then 5.50.4134.0600 (from here) Digita (talk) 01:39, 22 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

The image Image:IE Unix.PNG is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

The following images also have this problem:

EVolt "advertising"

edit

I do not believe that the entire section with hot-linked hyperlinks to evolt is either a constructive use of evolt's bandwidth or marks good authoring for an encyclopaedia article. To me it seems like a shameless plug for evolt - it's not as if they are the only source of such downloads and having the links in a long paragraph is not adding any documentable value to the quality of the article.

I would propose this be removed save for someone coming up with a credible need for a reference. —Preceding unsigned comment added by C:Amie (talkcontribs) 17:40, 20 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. certainly not appropriate for an intro even if you think it's appropriate for an encyclopaedia.81.187.45.71 (talk) 21:11, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
I moved links to "External links" section. What do you think about? I think they are useful.--Luca Ghio (talk) 21:42, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

IE5 image issues?

edit

The screenshot shows that IE5 can't show the Wikipedia logo... is this because the logo was created later? I can't see anything in the article about why this would be the case! - 114.76.231.84 (talk) 06:30, 12 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia logo is a PNG image that uses alpha transparency: IE5 lacks support for alpha transparency in PNG images, instead removing all transparency and displaying the image with a solid colour background (grey unless defined in a PNG bKGD chunk).--Luca Ghio (talk) 07:58, 12 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

I have just added archive links to one external link on Internet Explorer 5. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
