I have removed an external link to a site that was promoting economic development and investment in the canton rather than providing information. Kokiri 22:34, 4 Jan 2004 (UTC)

The One-third of the population mentioned in the text does actually not speak German, but two different Alemanic dialects. One is spoken in the Lac (See) district, and is closely related to the Bernese dialect. The other is a Highest Alemannic dialect that has no relatives. It is spoken in the district of Sense (Singine).

If it is OK for you, I wil change the text accordingly. Anybody may do this instead of me, of course.

Languages spoken

Hello ZH8000. I made a couple copyedits to your additions to the intro. Do you have a source for the proportions of French vs German speakers? I've noticed that this topic is sometimes contentious in articles relating to Switzerland's linguistic border zones. Also, noting the old comments above here, do you think we should add "dialects" after "German" (or maybe "Germanic" or "Alemannic")? Eric talk 21:14, 18 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

see my edits.
BTW, I do not see any problem relating languages, but much more an enrichment.
Of course you can add more information about languages/dialects. But also consider to add an additional paragraph; depends on the size. But I won't use the term Germanic, but Alemmanic; it's not the same at all. Cheers. -- ZH8000 (talk) 21:55, 18 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I know the two words don't mean the same thing, but Alemannic is a group of Germanic dialects. My point was to note that it isn't Hochdeutsch that's spoken there. If by "problem relating languages" you are referring to what I said about contentiousness, I don't see a problem either, but I have seen a lot of debating on Wikipedia regarding those French/German linguistic border areas.
