editUmm, quoted as saying implies that the statements were contested, whereas they were not. I am not going to revert this ; but I am concerned it might sound a bit misleading. 212.251.124.218 12:23, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Theodoros Pangalos (politician) → Theodoros Pangalos (politician, born 1938) – WP:Incomplete disambiguation, as Theodoros Pangalos (general) was also a politician. ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 16:48, 17 July 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. - Oppose as unnecessary WP:OVERPRECISION. Hatnotes easily take care of any possible confusion. Station1 (talk) 05:17, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
- It's not "overprecision". The general was also also a prominent politician who served as prime minister of Greece, a higher political office than ever attained by the later politician. Theodoros Pangalos (politician) should therefore redirect to Theodoros Pangalos. ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 15:02, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
- If it were also proposed to move the general to Theodoros Pangalos (politician, born 1878) because both were known solely as politicians, than the extra words would be necessary. But as long as the best qualifier for one is "politician" and for the other "general", there is no title conflict and no need to lengthen titles. The "incomplete disambiguation" is handled by the hatnotes on each article. Years of birth are usually not that helpful to readers, and are recommended as qualifiers only as a last resort. In this case, there's really no problem with the current setup. Station1 (talk) 19:23, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
- What alternative qualifier would you suggest? The current setup is inappropriate per wp:long-term significance, given that the earlier politician served in a higher political office. In the case of a move, there would be no need to have a hatnote at Theodoros Pangalos (general) per WP:NAMB, as Theodoros Pangalos (politician) would redirect to the dab. ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 19:52, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
- I can't think of a better qualifier than the current one; he seems to be known almost exclusively as a politician. I disagree that the current setup is inappropriate, but if one were to argue that the general is the WP:primary topic in a WP:ONEOTHER situation, based on significance and pageviews (which may be a reasonable argument), then it is the general's article that should be moved to Theodoros Pangalos with a hatnote pointing to this article. - Oppose per Station1 and WP:NCPDAB. There is no indication that "general" is a poorer disambiguator than "politician" for the grandfather, so there is no need to use politician for both and force inclusion of birth years. Mdewman6 (talk) 23:48, 26 July 2023 (UTC)
- Support the general is described in the article as being a politician and has more views (1,285) than this one (595)[[1]]. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:27, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
- Support, no PRIMARY politician. Further DAB required.--Ortizesp (talk) 20:18, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
- Support per nomination; Crouch, Swale and Ortizesp. The incomplete disambiguation Theodoros Pangalos (politician) should indeed redirect to the Theodoros Pangalos disambiguation page. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 07:20, 30 July 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose as pointless, and per WP:ONEOTHER/WP:TWODABS. There are only two notable Theodoros Pangalos, and redirecting Theodoros Pangalos (politician) there only makes sure that everyone who searches for the modern politician lands to the dab page first. On average, the proposed setup makes people click more than the current one. No such user (talk) 11:15, 31 July 2023 (UTC)
- This is less an argument against a move, more an argument for making Theodoros Pangalos (general) the wp:primary topic. Per pageviews, (general) receives more than twice the amount of views than (politician). ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 23:47, 31 July 2023 (UTC)
- Indeed, I think the setup you describe (getting rid of the dab page) would be the best. It's an ONEOTHER situation where the general is more notable. I regard the current situation as the second best thing. No such user (talk) 11:48, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
