John Madden Duo Football

edit

Okay, how come there's no mention of the Turbo Duo version of Madden on that system? Here's Moby's info on the game http://www.mobygames.com/game/john-madden-duo-cd-football

This article isn't complete until this is acknowledged, and well and any other versions not known.

Probably due to lack of notability. Zappa (talk) 19:34, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm, looks like it's actually because MobyGames is not a reliable source, according to WP:VG/S. ZappaOMati 18:38, 20 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Needs Many New Perspectives

edit

It has become abundantly clear after only a short time reading this that there are many, many errors and many more unbiased, declaratory, opinionated, theorized, and generally incorrect statements throughout this entire article. Most of this discussion page is based on the madden curse section, which, incidentally, really shouldn't be on the same page as the article; yet the section isn't even written in the right tone or voice of a documented, cited article (which it isn't). This is but one example.

It comes down to the writers and editors of this page being too close to football, video games, and the Madden franchise in general. Sure, I'm the biggest fan of all three, but there needs to be "outside" writers and editors. Or even better, people who are just a huge fan of research and writing.

Some members should flag this for an egregious offense on many guidelines.

Drew Brees

edit

Ok, there have been at least 3 removal of the defeat to the Seahawks, mine was the first one to be deleted. First of all, while injury in the main Curse characteristic is not the only one, and i think it should be mentioned; Now, granted the defeat is a team thing, Brees had a acceptable game, but still... the losing record playoff team is just so...cursy-like. Zidane tribal (talk) 08:11, 9 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

That game has nothing to do with the curse, that's wny it keeps being removed. The curse deals with cover athletes who subsequently suffer an injury. Whether that is coincidence or not remains to be seen, but nevertheless a cover athlete who has a bad game - had a bad game, period.   ArcAngel   (talk) ) 08:51, 9 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
If the Saints team plane crashed, I'm sure someone would include it in the Madden Curse Section. Crappy teams can upset good teams, its nothing out of the ordinary - it's football. --  StarScream1007  ►Talk  18:33, 9 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
I would love to include it, make the curse bigger, but you are right, it was just a game, a very good game, nothing more. Zidane tribal (talk) 19:40, 9 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Not even mentioning him isn't the right way to go about it. Something happens to Peyton Hillis, are you just going to skip right over Brees as if he was never on the cover? I'd say a career-high 22 interceptions and losing to the only playoff team to ever have a sub-.500 record is curse-esque. It says "experienced a decline in performance". That happened. Smk42 (talk) 05:38, 26 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
The context is "usually due to injury". Since Brees was never injured, the loss to the Seahawks isn't considered linked to the "curse".   ArcAngel   (talk) ) 07:17, 27 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Madden 2000

edit

The article mentions that in 1999, Garrison Hearst was on the cover, and since then an athlete has graced the cover. Yet, cover athletes are not mentioned until Madden 2001. Madden 2000 PAL version had Dorsey Levens on the cover. This should be reflected. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 175.192.104.176 (talk) 13:39, 6 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Madden curse section

edit

I trimmed down this section. It was mostly a long list that seemed to support the idea of the curse existing (see WP:WHIM). A lot of the sources didn't even mention the curse and were just used to imply a specific conclusion (see WP:OR and WP:SYNTH). This information could be found elsewhere and presumably be placed on another wiki (indeed, a slightly out of date entry exists on the Gaming Wikia). But on Wikipedia it should suffice to describe the "phenomenon" and mention a few reactions to it. --Jtalledo (talk) 16:44, 5 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Restructuring

edit

I have placed a tag on this article because the overview section of this article needs to be restructured. For example the article section under “Overview” start out by talking about the number of Madden copies sold in 2013, then it immediately and abruptly starts talking about John Madden, who they mentioned as only, “Madden”. It then gives random quotes about Madden from News paper articles without tying them into the article. BigRed606 (talk) 00:03, 4 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ps please do not remove this tag until a agreement has been reached.BigRed606 (talk) 00:21, 4 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Trip Hawkins comments in Instagram

edit

Trip Hawkins wrote on Instagram [1] that this "Wikipedia page wrongly states that Bethesda contributed some program code to a version of Madden. Completely false. ... nothing of Bethesda's was ever in a published Madden game."

The article says "EA used many of its [Bethesda's] designs, including contributions to their physics engine" The reference is to a 2007 Escapist magazine article about the history of Bethesda that includes some quotes from Bethesda founder Chris Weaver. It implies that EA used "Bethesda’s physics-based approach" but isn't as clear as what Wikipedia is stating. I think we should change the article.-- Fast Eddie V (talk) 00:19, 15 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
