Geography
editHoliday Shores is in northern Madison County and consists of housing surrounding Holiday Lake, a reservoir on Joulters Creek. The lake outlet is a quarter mile north of Paddock Creek, a south-flowing tributary of Cahokia Creek, which continues southwest to the Mississippi River near Hartford.
The community is 15 miles (24 km) east of Alton, 10 miles (16 km) north of Edwardsville, the Madison county seat, and 30 miles (48 km) northeast of St. Louis.
