English: In October 2007, NASA's New Horizons spacecraft imaged the dwarf planet Makemake, from a distance of 52 au (7.8 billion km, 4.8 billion mi). At the time, the object was visible at apparent magnitude +17.5 from the position of the spacecraft, in the direction of the constellation Ursa Major.
The NASA website hosts a large number of images from the Soviet/Russian space agency, and other non-American space agencies. These are not necessarily in the public domain.
