Recent edit reversion
[edit]In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.
I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.
I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) If you think my edit was mistaken, please politely let me know and I will investigate. S Philbrick(Talk) 16:15, 9 February 2023 (UTC)

Raphael Morris moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Raphael Morris, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, to be safe. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 10:18, 19 April 2023 (UTC)

DYK?

As an IP, I can't myself nominate it, but am happy for someone else to (and to take DYK credit); I've done this with some other articles, and am happy to do the QPQ. As we worked on the above DYK together, I thought you might be interested in promoting this one - if not, no worries, I'll ask another editor. The article is Draft:Oakdale Golf & Country Club. Autoconfirmed rights
[edit]Hi, Longhornsg. I was wondering if you have considered applying for WP:AUTOPATROLLED* rights. Generally speaking you need at least 25 articles created in order to gain this privilege, and you seem to have plenty of articles under your belt. It would not help you much per se except to save you the notification that your article has been reviewed and to automatically release your new articles for search indexing, but it would also help the new page review backlog. I'm almost certain you would be granted it given your editing history, and to my understanding the privilege stays with you indefinitely. It's of course up to you; it's still always good to have another pair of eyes on a new article. All the best, TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 22:29, 12 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks, @TheTechnician27. I think I already have these rights? Longhornsg (talk) 22:34, 12 September 2023 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Additionally you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Dodgy quote
[edit]Hi, I only trimmed the quote here, I didn't remove the description from Kemp, so you've doubled this up. Also the quote doesn't actually finish; it stops halfway through, so it's just nonsensical at the moment. But the broader point is that a blog post on an advocacy website doesn't establish weight for repeating a quote. Iskandar323 (talk) 18:05, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
- Cool, thanks Longhornsg (talk) 18:08, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
- Fyi, I meant that the material as it stands is duplicated, and the quote incomplete. I hadn't fixed it at the time, as it's a contentious topic and I didn't want to edit the same material twice. Iskandar323 (talk) 09:33, 28 September 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Safari (restaurant)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Safari (restaurant) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. MrBauer24 (talk) 19:13, 3 October 2023 (UTC)

[edit]- Hello Longhornsg, we need experienced volunteers.
- New Page Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles. We could use a few extra hands on deck if you think you can help.
- Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; Wikipedia needs experienced users to perform this task and there are precious few with the appropriate skills. Even a couple reviews a day can make a huge difference.
- Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision (if it looks daunting, don't worry, it basically boils down to checking CSD, notability, and title). If this looks like something that you can do, please consider joining us.
- If you would like to join the project and help out, please see the granting conditions. You can apply for the user-right HERE.
- If you have questions, please feel free to drop a message at the reviewer's discussion board.
- Cheers, and hope to see you around.

Move of "Red Sea crisis" article
[edit]I agree with this move, and thank you for doing it. Could you do me a favor and explain how you effectuated the move? I was going to do it myself but I've never reverted a page move before and didn't want to screw it up. Medhat Abbas moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Medhat Abbas, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) The sources in the article are quotes by the subject, not in-depth coverage of him. In-depth coverage is required to show that the subject is notable. I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Speedy deletion nomination of Eli Stefansky
[edit]Hello, Longhornsg,
Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Melmann and I thank you for your contributions.
I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, Eli Stefansky, for deletion, because a consensus decision previously decided that it wasn't suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. If you wish to restore a page deleted via a deletion discussion, please use the deletion review process instead, rather than reposting the content of the page.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.
For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Melmann}}

Autopatrolled granted
[edit]Hi Longhornsg, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.
Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.
Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! – Joe (talk) 10:11, 19 September 2024 (UTC)

JTA in JINFO citation
[edit]Your 4 October 2023 List of Jewish Nobel laureates edit added a JINFO citation which included "Cited by JTA". That phrase doesn't appear to be mentioned on JINFO's current JEWISH NOBEL PRIZE WINNERS page or home page nor the winners list page archived 30 September 2023 nor the home page archived 3 October 2023 at the Wayback Machine so I'm wondering where you saw it.
Jinfo.org is mentioned in the last paragraph of Drew Weissman, Jewish immunologist, wins Nobel Prize for his work on COVID vaccines so the phrase is justified but I don't think it's appropriate in the citation. Mcljlm (talk) 17:46, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
