More information needed about File:Portrait of George Guillaume by Kris Kuksi.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Portrait of George Guillaume by Kris Kuksi.jpg. However, it needs some more work before it is okay to use on Wikipedia.

Please click here and do the following:

  1. Add a description of where the image comes from (not what it is) and who the creator is. Please be specific, and include a link if you can.
  2. Find the appropriate license from the list of free, non-free media, or public domain options. Copy the license template and paste it in the file's page, and save.

If you follow these steps, your image can help enhance Wikipedia. If you have any questions, feel free to ask at the media copyright questions page.

Hi. When you recently edited Kris Kuksi, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Nike (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. In the future, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, reduces edit conflicts, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Thank you. CharlieEchoTango (contact) 01:10, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You also do not need to put your signature in edit summaries, and you should never add it to articles. I fixed your image problem, the file only works if it is preceded by a parameter that the infobox template understands, you can see the parameters at {{Infobox non-profit}}. License tagging for File:Onyx Moonshine Logo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Onyx Moonshine Logo.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 06:05, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please read this re File:Onyx Moonshine in the Attic.jpg. As to your uploads of three images of Hilliard Mill: when were these images taken? Who was the photographer? How on earth can Adam von Gootkin claim copyright? They are almost certainly now public domain. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:24, 16 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Roger, I've taken your comments on board and am hoping that I can rectify the issues that you mentioned. I have re-uploaded the pictures of the beverages in the Wikipedia Commons section and will obtain the author's permission for these, to be forwarded on to Wikipedia subsequently. I will not now be uploading the images of Hilliard Mills. Finally, there is a logo that I would like to upload (File:Onyx Moonshine Logo.jpg). I previously tried to do this but was obviously doing something incorrectly as it was deleted. I suspect it may have been because the information in the non-free rationale did not contain details re 'Purpose'. I can try reloading it, having included this, but am mindful of your comment re continuing to upload when faced with a warning message. I just want to make sure I'm doing this correctly. I have amended the non-free rationale as follows and would be grateful if you can can indicate whether this is acceptable? - Thank you in advance:

{Non-free use rationale logo | Article = Onyx Moonshine | Use = Brand | Owner = Onyx Spirits Company | Commentary = | Source = Onyx Spirits Company | Portion = All | Low resolution = JPEG will be rendered at low resolutions. The logo is of a size and resolution sufficient to maintain the quality intended by the company or organization, without being unnecessarily high resolution. |Purpose of use = The image is used to identify the beverage Onyx Moonshine, a subject of public interest. The significance of the logo is to help the reader identify the product, assure the readers that they have reached the right article containing critical commentary about the organization, and illustrate the organization's intended branding message in a way that words alone could not convey. | Replaceability = Because it is a logo there is almost certainly no free equivalent. Any substitute that is not a derivative work would fail to convey the meaning intended, would tarnish or misrepresent its image, or would fail its purpose of identification or commentary. }}

Hi, Fbell. In case you didn't see my post at the Stephanie Adams AfD on this, your user page is separate from your talk page. I saved it for you because the red link sort of stuck out. Hello: I've working on the backlog of edit requests. Regarding John Travis (physician), I see you posted the request in January. Hi User:Corodo48. You recently left a message on my talk page saying you felt that Cat Stevens and Jane Fonda shouldn't be included in the article List of peace activists. I think this comment would be better placed on the Talk page of that article. That will help the discussion along.Fbell74 (talk) 06:49, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Conflict of interest problem edits

[edit]

If this account is - as you say on your user page - "solely for the purpose of contributing to articles with which I may have a potential conflict of interest", then you should never edit any of these articles directly, per WP:COI. Glancing at your contributions, you added "In 2015 (name) was a Churchill Award winner." directly to a bunch of articles last month, despite declaring a COI with Churchill Awards. --McGeddon (talk) 12:05, 9 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi McGeddon (talk). My understanding of the COI guidelines is that, while users are discouraged from editing where a COI or potential COI exists, that this is not prohibited. If changes pass Wikipedia's guidelines in terms of sources, neutrality and notability, then shouldn't the changes be acceptable? The awards themselves are national awards in a specialist category, which have been won in the past by individuals who would be considered notable. The awards are being run jointly by a national organisation and a national newspaper and previous judges have included Sir Roger Moore, Lawrie McMenemy and Esther Rantzen, all of whom, I would suggest can be considered notable in their own right. Additional judges have been Sir Roger Carr, former chairman of CBI and Tom Wright, Group Chief Executive of Age UK and Age International. Admittedly, some of this information hasn't been included in the Churchill Awards page, so it wouldn't have been obvious.Fbell74 (talk) 01:22, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you are "strongly discouraged" from editing relevant articles. (If you're being paid to edit then you're "very strongly discouraged".) WP:COIADVICE gives some guidelines on what kind of editing is appropriate. Adding a single housing company's obscure award to a biography such as Harriet Harman's - which mentions no other awards, implying that this is the only significant award she's ever been given - does not improve the article, and with a WP:PRIMARY source is borderline spam.
Please also note that if you are being paid to edit Wikipedia, you must clearly state these client(s) on your user page, per WP:COIPAYDISCLOSE. --McGeddon (talk) 08:55, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I take your point about the awards being less notable than some of the others that the winners have won, such as CBEs and so on. By that standard this award probably isn't on the same level. Fair enough.
Separately, I've updated my Talkpage with a list of the articles that I've worked on and added notes to the Talkpages of the different articles. I had done this for a most of these before, but there were a couple without a notification.Fbell74 (talk) 08:25, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for clarifying. Just to be crystal, though, WP:COIPAYDISCLOSE requires your userpage to be more specific, saying that "you must declare who is paying you, who the client is, and any other relevant role or relationship." --McGeddon (talk) 18:21, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. The guidelines indicated making a list on a userpage, which I had done, but I've made the nature of the relationship clearer. I realised later that some of the COI notices on the subjects' talk pages indicated a connected rather than a paid contributor, so I've amended these accordingly Fbell74 (talk) 03:11, 16 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This is basically advertising for the individual. FBell74, were you paid to write this article? or is Dr. Miller connect with the firm you apparently work for? Youve been warned about conflict of interest. Undeclared page editing is sufficient cause by itself for deletion of the articles involved. ' DGG ( talk ) 02:35, 16 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The subject has had a number of Interviews and articles written about him in various regional newspapers, particularly in the 1970s and 1980s, but again more recently. While these aren’t national publications there are quite a number of them, which speaks to notability? In terms of the article coming across as promotional, I was trying to avoid this, in light of my connection to the subject. From your comments, I obviously I didn’t succeed in this. Yes, absolutely, I was paid to write this article. Per Wikipedia’s requirements, I indicated the relationship in the talk page of the draft article as well as my own user page. As I understand it, paid editing is permitted, but the relationship must be made clear.Fbell74 (talk) 03:31, 16 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Churchill Retirement Living, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Travis

[edit]

I consider the article basically acceptable, provided that the article on his diagram Illness-Wellness Continuum is redirected to it, so I boldly did that. OK? There are still some unsourced statements in the bio that will need to be fixed. DGG ( talk ) 04:33, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks DGG. Redirecting is fine - you'd previously suggested deleting the other article and consolidating the information in the John Travis one, so that makes sense. I hadn't thought to do a redirect, so thanks for thinking of that (also for removing one of the alerts). I'll go through the bio information and look to find more sources. By the way, Travis is on the advisory board of the California Institute of Integral Studies. The article currently says that he works with them, but not in which capacity. Would it be overkill to include that? (I have a source). Separately, regarding the COI alert on the main page, is it possible to have this removed, as the contributor connection is made clear on the Talkpage? Fbell74 (talk) 00:27, 5 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Being on a Board of Directors is not usually considered significant enough, but it's a organization with some relevance to his views, so I wouldn't object. DGG ( talk ) 00:58, 5 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I was thinking along those lines as well - thank you (also for removing the alert). I'll look for the additional sources that you mentioned.Fbell74 (talk) 04:01, 5 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
