Note: The ARRL is not now, nor has ever been active in the notion of "verifying" hamfest attendances. Therefore, the claim "verified by ARRL" is flat out wrong. The ARRL may report the figures that Hamvention officials reported...but they verify nothing.

Further, it has been several years since Hamvention reported attendance above 20,000...so perhaps this figure should be revised downward.

In the August 2010 edition of CQ Magazine, it is reported that Hamvention officials claimed 19,000 some attendees in 2010..up from 17k 2009, which was up from 15k in 2008, which was down from...etc. 20,000 hasn't happened since about 2002, IIRC.

The all-time high was 33,000+ in 1993...but if that figure is published here, it should also be noted that it was a time when hamfest flea markets were over-run with computers and CB gear, before most hamfests started requesting sellers to be more specifically about ham equipment.

What say all? 20,000 close enough, or should the text be revised?

Irrespective of figures, the claim that ARRL "Verifies" should be struck, because the ARRL simply does not do so. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.65.41.20 (talkcontribs) 23:19, July 27, 2010 (UTC)
