Basand
Basand بساند is a village of Rawalpindi, Punjab, Pakistan. It is also near to Muree a hill point. Its population is about 400 people. There is separate primary schools for boys and girls.
Geography
Basand is situated 45 km North East from Khanna Bridge(کھنہ پل) Islamabad.It belong to Union Council Karore its tehsil is Kotli Sattian. Its neighboring villages are Kallan کلاں, Surba سربہ, Kullah کُلا and Patah پھاٹہ. One can search it on Google Location. There is Muree on its North, Kasmir is on its East, Islamabad is on its West and Punjab cities is on its south. It is about three thousand and two hundred feet above sea level. It is surrounded by pine trees and scrub forest.
History
It is a first home of famous Janu Khan(جانوں خان) forefather of Janwal from Dhanyal Tribeقبیلہ دھنیال . Due to enmity of step brothers he cross river sawn with his family and cattle and start living in Tandloch(تندلوچ) near to village Basand. At where that times his sign of living still remains. One day he saw mud marks on his cattle body, he was in doubt that there is water near here. Then he started walk with his cattle until he reached central spring of water(known as chalyar) in Basand. Then he take his family and cattle from Tandloch to Basand and start living there near to chalyar. This house is renowned as Barra Kharr(Big House)(بڑا گھر).
