Songwriter attribution

[edit]

Those songs should be attributed to the song writers or not - at least I prefer it. But on the other hand, I can understand they first try to seek it as "quotes from the Beatles", not from each song lyric writers ... or this article should be re-organized as Shakespear's article. I am not sure currently .....--Aphaia 3 July 2005 02:21 (UTC)

Individual pages

[edit]

Paul, John, Ringo and George have their own pages. Can't all the attributed quotes be moved to their own pages?

It might be better, especially as Ringo currently has no quotes on this page which gives the - false - impression that he had nothing to say. --Kingboyk 13:41, 10 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Lead singers

[edit]

also y are both john n paul both refered to as lead singers there must be a better word i.e. vocalist?? bijun

There's no real difference between "vocalist" and "singer", according to Merriam-Webster Online. One can infer, perhaps, a somewhat greater sophistication for a "vocalist", in that they might be expected to perform more impressive vocal feats than a "singer", but this is more connotation than denotation, and both terms seem fairly interchangeable in common usage.
If you mean why are John and Paul considered lead singers/vocalists, as opposed to just singers/vocalists, I imagine it's because they sang the lead vocals on a majority of Beatles songs. I believe Paul led on many if not most of his songs, and John did for his (although I've read that John preferred harmony). George and Ringo both contributed lead vocals to some Beatles tunes (even ones that J or P wrote, I'm fairly sure), but only a minority of them. On the other hand, Wikipedia's article doesn't make this explicit claim, except to say that Ringo typically only sang lead on one song per album. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 07:39, 2 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well, yes, they were all lead vocalists at one time or another. Perhaps if the en article doesn't make that clear it ought to. --Kingboyk 13:40, 10 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Just in Case

[edit]

If you don't know, I accidentally didn't log in and the "Blue Jay Way" and "Don't Pass Me By" edits are mine. They're under 151.198.137.245. Sorry. 02kkk 22:59, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Kermit quote

[edit]

i dont believe this, as there is no attribution and a google search reveals nothing. if you can show otherwise, feel free to restore it.

Unsourced

[edit]

Wikiquote no longer allows unsourced quotations, and they are in process of being removed from our pages (see Wikiquote:Limits on quotations); but if you can provide a reliable and precise source for any quote on this list please move it to The Beatles. --Antiquary 14:57, 31 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Quotes about the Beatles

[edit]
  • "Guitar bands are on their way out Mr. Epstein"
  • "The guitar's all very well, John, but you'll never make a living out of it."
    • Mimi Smith
  • "I declare that The Beatles are mutants. Prototypes of evolutionary agents sent by God, endowed with a mysterious power to create a new human species, a young race of laughing freemen."
    • Timothy Leary
  • "The most devastating male quartet since the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse."
    • Donald Zec, Daily Mirror
  • Lennon was right. And we are bigger than Jesus. We will be as big as the Beatles, if not bigger.
  • We were very influenced by The Beatles, no question.
  • So whenever I hear The Beatles I always feel I've got a lot in common with everybody else.
  • It's like this - these five members have been influenced of course by other groups, because that's where this generation's groups came from - an environment like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Yardbirds, and The Who. People like that.
  • With every song that I write, I compare it to the Beatles. The thing is, they only got there before me. If I'd been born at the same time as John Lennon, I'd have been up there.
  • Everybody can dig The Beatles, but why should everybody dig us?
  • Oasis are not just influenced by the Beatles; they actually take stuff. Then they get praised.
  • You can't beat The Beatles, you join 'em.

Lots to do here

[edit]

The singles are not in chronological order. The album quotes should be in track order in the medium of their first release ie. vinyl... And where is a quote from "I Want to Hold Your Hand"? I can't believe that got missed! From my foggy memory it was the first monster hit in Canada, everyone liked it. Even my dour English grandmother cranked the AM radio up when the song was played. I can still vividly remember the cultural ground moving...--Oracleofottawa 06:19, 22 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Error in quote from 'Fixing a Hole' : it's not 'Where will it go' but 'Where it will go'. (Gepi)
