Hi Wakana, it was great meeting you at Wikimania! If you would like to support my efforts in making Wikipedia more sustainable, you can check out the Sustainability Initiative page on Meta and please consider adding your username to the list of supporters! This project really needs broad support to finally get traction. Thank you, --Gnom (talk) 15:39, 5 August 2018 (UTC)

Touching base
[edit]Hi Wakkie, James mentioned that you were one of the other active Japanese translators and to get in touch base with you and seek your guidance if needed. I’ve been translating some of the peak clinical professional body articles mostly 三師会 related material by finding what needs doing through WP:JAPAN. James pinged me to join WP:MED some months ago but I became busy with screen documentary production work in Japan for some months. That’s done for now and so I’m orienting myself with the TWB material and articles for translation spreadsheets.
Most of my efforts have been J-E translation rather than E-J with WP, and equally both in the real world. I can assist with both E-J/J-E translation depending on the need and scope of my clinical and bilinguistic competency.
In the real world I’m a semi-retired clinical educator/researcher (I.e in the fields of counseling/clinical psychology, clinical supervision, epidemiology, psychometrics) and i’ve worked as a technical/medical translator in three countries for around 30 years. I was a serving board member of the Australian Counselling Association for several years some time ago.
I will keep my eye on both wikiprojects and jaWP enWP for medical related needs, and hopefully I will be more useful. Please let me know if you think there’s anything particular I can help with, but I might need your help until I get used to how things work at WP:MED TWS. However don’t want to be a burden. i’m fairly responsive to being pinged via WP. Thanks for your attention to my message. Be well. Dr.khatmando (talk) 03:55, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Dr.khatmando, First of all, sorry for such a late reply to your message. I go on and off editing Wikipedia and I rarely pay attention to my talk page in English Wikipedia. Anyhow, I would greatly appreciate any help to translate essential health/medical articles from English to Japanese. Especially person like you who has both medical knowledge and translation skills! Here is the list of the related articles that are ready to be translated:[[1]]. Only lead section is well referenced and the rest of the article is of questionable quality; thus I would encourage people to translate only the lead section (I have been translating only the lead section). I'm not an expert in Wikipedia or medicine but if you have a question(s) I might be able to answer or direct your question to who can answer. Have fun translating!
