Hi. When you recently edited Gary Stretch, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page St Helens (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

VisualEditor

[edit]

Thank you so much for trying out the new VisualEditor! The transition can be a little challenging to those of us who know something about Wiki markup already.  :) If you insert some of the familiar Wikimarkup code (like [[]] or {{}}), the VisualEditor thinks you are trying to type these things and puts "<nowiki>" tags around it. To actually achieve the same effects, you just need to use the link, template and other icons in the VisualEditor itself. (For more detail, please see Wikipedia:VisualEditor/User guide and the Wikipedia:VisualEditor/FAQ.) I believe that the developers are working now on some way to make this more clear so that people who know Wiki markup don't find themselves facing the tags with no way to understand why. :)

If you have other feedback about your experience or encounter anything that looks like a bug, please let us know at Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Feedback. And thanks again. --Maggie Dennis (WMF) (talk) 14:41, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. :D The enhancement request that the developers are working with would make a note, I think, for editors who try to use the old markup to remind (or tell!) them how it is done in VisualEditor. It's a high priority fix. :) --Maggie Dennis (WMF) (talk) 20:34, 12 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Opting in to VisualEditor

[edit]

As you may know, VisualEditor ("Edit beta") is currently available on the English Wikipedia only for registered editors who choose to enable it. Since you have made 100 or more edits with VisualEditor this year, I want to make sure that you know that you can enable VisualEditor (if you haven't already done so) by going to your preferences and choosing the item, "MediaWiki:Visualeditor-preference-enable". This will give you the option of using VisualEditor on articles and userpages when you want to, and give you the opportunity to spot changes in the interface and suggest improvements. We value your feedback, whether positive or negative, about using VisualEditor, at Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Feedback. Thank you, Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 18:23, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Odd thing from VisualEditor

[edit]

This edit seems to have added something a little strange about installing Japanese fonts. Do you remember if you tried to add this directly, or have any ideas about where it came from? VisualEditor gave it a strange format, and I'm trying to sort out how it needs to be improved. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 19:30, 20 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I should have been clearer on this. All the articles on the list of articles moved by Beatley are likely to be deleted, including Mária Homolová. I see you worked on it. Perhaps for now move it to Mária Homolová (gymnast) or something, so it does not get wiped out. I will tell you when it is safe to move back to the simpler title. Sherdog.com RfC Closure Has Had No Effect on Wikipedia Because of a Small but Organized Gang of Editors

[edit]

Hi. You had participated in the 30-day RfC of Sherdog.com's reliability at RSN here Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard/Archive_318#Sherdog.com and in the end it was closed to be used only for some basic fight information in the absence of reliable sources such as ESPN, on a case by case basis and with that fact that additional considerations apply on top of it (option 2 or 3).

But some editors (NEDOCHAN, Cassiopeia, Squared.Circle.Boxing, and a couple more) who voted for the reliability of Sherdog.com in the RfC, still enforce the usage of Sherdog.com as the most trusted source on MMA-related pages and go edit-wars for it. They are like a small organized gang of editors that have taken anyting MMA-related hostage on the Wikipedia and act like owners of the whole site. It would be nice if you could help with the enforcement of the result and consensus that were reached there since you helped reaching the consensus in the RfC. Thanks in advance.78.190.164.254 (talk) 16:00, 23 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to take part in a survey about medical topics on Wikipedia

[edit]

Dear fellow editor,

I am Piotr Konieczny, a sociologist of new media at Hanyang University (and User:Piotrus on Wikipedia). I would like to better understand Wikipedia's volunteers who edit medical topics, many associated with the WikiProject Medicine, and known to create some of the highest quality content on Wikipedia. I hope that the lessons I can learn from you that I will present to the academic audience will benefit both the WikiProject Medicine (improving your understanding of yourself and helping to promote it and attract new volunteers) and the wider world of medical volunteering and academia. Open access copy of the resulting research will be made available at WikiProject's Medicine upon the completion of the project.

All questions are optional. The survey is divided into 4 parts: 1 - Brief description of yourself; 2 - Questions about your volunteering; 3 - Questions about WikiProject Medicine and 4 - Questions about Wikipedia's coverage of medical topics.

Please note that by filling out this questionnaire, you consent to participate in this research. The survey is anonymous and all personal details relevant to your experience will be kept private and will not be transferred to any third party.

I appreciate your support of this research and thank you in advance for taking the time to participate and share your experiences! If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me at my Wikipedia user page or through my email listed on the survey page (or by Wikipedia email this user function).

The survey is accessible through the LINK HERE.

Hello,Redfiona99, Unfortunately, The Musée d'Orsay does not know the date of his death (they say "he probably died" etc,.) I have found this date, as I do for many other people in the french Wikipedia. You have two solutions. You can keep streaming this error, or read the death certificate in the French Wikipedia article, from March 17, 1921. Have a nice day. Pierregil83 (talk) 03:38, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, that makes more sense. Could you copy the reference over from French wiki? That way it's referenced here too and no one will change it back to the Musee D'Orsay date. Red Fiona (talk) 17:50, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - less a test page, more of a "it turns out there's less information than I thought so I might need to change it to being the art group he was part of", and I wasn't sure what to do with this to tidy everything up. Red Fiona (talk) 07:45, 26 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
