[edit]Hi, PLEASE - give me a coupla seconds, ok? can we like ... eh ... talk? MJ :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Litter13 (talk • contribs) 09:54, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
Ad 1): See http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morten_J%C3%B8rgensen
The notablitity is there in Norwegian Wiki. For further reference, see http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cappelen - my publisher.
Ad 2): This page was NOT started by me.
I have only been trying to create a link to my Norwegian page, trying to avoid ppl getting the Danish rower.
The intention of the Big Bong page is to avoid some poor band in e.g. New Zealand take that name for their band and get sued in 2010. All kids use Wiki these days to check if a band name has been taken. I don't thin that collides with either 1) or 2).

And right now you throw me rules, "break off conversations" etc that I only halfway understand or manage to read fast enough. :( i AM NOT THAT EXPERIENCED HERE, OK?? Please? Litter13 (talk) 10:06, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
Could you maybe try to help me instead? Please? I have a loop. My stuff is reasonably right, but I get a loop on the Danish rower, and I don't want to push him out.

- You can recreate the article and use {{under construction}} to avoid deletion while you are building it, or simply add more information before your first save. The best advice, however, would be to create an article on the novel and redirect the band to that article, as the novel will be far more notable than the band, and the band is only notable because of the novel, if I understand your article correctly. - Oh yes, that's fine. SGGH speak! 11:21, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
Hi, SGGH. Well, one reason I did what I did, was that I tried to connect Wiki-English to Wiki-Norway directly, which I did not get to work at all, I'm not that good with this. Then I would have just hooked all up to Norway. Then all would have been well and fine. And the reason why I did not write about the novel, is that THAT seemed to me to be in breach of the Don't write yourself in-rule. And yes, you are right, the novel is the main thing. However, no English language contract is yet signed, but still the (fictious) band name Big Bong (coz it's a very good band name) might end up before publishing as the name of some poor Ukrainian alternative indie band who have used all their money on a self-produced album, but my publisher would maybe have no choice but to sue them. So for now the band name should suffice. That was my only intention. - Yeah, also, my publisher would, of course be very angry with me, if that poor Ukrainian band suddenly topped the charts in the US. :D Litter13 (talk) 15:00, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
You article
[edit]Hi,
A couple of notes.
- I have declined the nomination to speedily delete your article, as it is not a completely obvious decision. However, anyone is allowed to take the more complicated path of the Articles for deletion process if they believe the article doesn't belong. If this is done, there will be a 5 day discussion, which you will be notified of, and can contribute to. I've asked that you be given a few days first to get the article into better shape, but no one is required to follow that.
- Although it is not forbidden to contribute to an article about yourself, it is usually discouraged. If you don't mind, please take a minute (if you haven't already) to read WP:COI, our conflict of interest policy, before editing the article any more.

Hi, Barneca, and thank you. I am well aware of the semi-ban on writing yourself into Wiki, which I of course support. However, since it at the time and still does seem absurd to me to call my publisher to have someone write it in, when I could do a quick, purely informational 3-liner, when I already was a crossreference entity on Wiki-Norway. Then it collided with a Dane with exactly the same name as mine, and then all hell broke lose, as I tried to mend it. I still have not figured out how to get rid of the loop that the poor Dane still is on, however, the disabiguity page works fine, and the Dane has come up as (rower).
And quite frankly, I'm not sure that I have the energy to correct it. I have done under another username some Wiki material of Award-quality in Norway, but I must say that I do get a sense of a more friendly atmosphere "back home". I feel greatly discouraged from contributing anything to Wiki English ever again, as I was still writing when all these people starting coming down on me. If only they had bothered to check the clock, not everybody is a wiz kid at first try here, you know. I know you all have a lot to do, sure, but still ... What about introducing like four hours trigger time before all the pitbulls go? Or one hour after last save, that would have been enough for me. Litter13 (talk) 14:37, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
- I very much apologize if you didn't feel welcome. I know that you were in good faith with your edits. As for the loop, that has been fixed as well. I stand by my edits to your article, but I certainly did not want to make you feel unwelcome. If I did so, I very much apologize. -Lilac Soul (talk • contribs • count) 14:42, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
No hard feelings, I know y'all have a lot to do. So what shall I do now? Let the weak article stay and look bad? Or include sources and links to my publishers and break the not myself-ban? Litter13 (talk) 14:48, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
- First, the "ban" is not an actual ban, but a "strong recommendation". If you have actual reliable sources, I see no problem with you being the one to add them, and others can review their appropriateness. To be honest, looking at any references you provided would help people decide whether you meet the notability guidelines or not, and so would help decide whether an AFD is appropriate.
- Second, I agree our current system for weeding out inappropriate pages (which Lilac Soul followed) can be unwelcoming for new editors. I have tried to suggest changes to it in the past, but there's a lot of inertia against change. Also, every proposal for change seems to have the unfortunate side effect of allowing a lot more actual crap to make it through. The reason (I'm guessing) that the Norwegian Wikipedia can afford to be more welcoming is that there are far fewer people trying to get inappropriate material onto it than there are here.
- Third, there is the option of getting the article in good shape in userspace, and moving it to the article space when it's ready. This probably wouldn't be as appropriate in this case, however, as in other cases.
- Finally, keep in mind that half the "unwelcome feeling" you're getting might be due to the fact that it's an article about you; if you're going to start an article about yourself, you probably need a thicker-than-normal skin!

Proposed deletion of Morten Jørgensen (novelist)
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Morten Jørgensen (novelist), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
