Needing concensus on: Islam in Australia
[edit]Hi, i am a new editor and i've been trying to work on updating the page Islam in Australia. It has historically been a page abused by Islamaphobes and used to collect negative sentiment against Muslims.
Currently, one editor (binksternet) is acting as a road block and filler-bustering progress on the page Islam in Australia and would like your opinion on the talk page.
Currently, I am trying to achieve a consensus on a roll-back that he has imposed, and I need help. Bro The Man (talk) 12:10, 27 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hey @Bro The Man! Welcome to Wikipedia by the way. I don't think that inviting uninvolved editors to an edit war is allowed on Wikipedia (see Wikipedia:Canvassing). Mind telling me what part of the article you find leaning toward an Islamophobic narrative? Abo Yemen✉ 13:17, 27 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hi! Thank you for taking time to reply. Thank you for letting me know, i was not aware. If you don't mind, i have answered your question in a reply on my talk page. I appreciate your consideration. Bro The Man (talk) 15:35, 27 October 2024 (UTC)

Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello Abo Yemen! Your additions to Hadhramaut have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:
- Limited quotation: You may only copy or translate a small portion of a source. Any direct quotations must be enclosed in double quotation marks (") and properly cited using an inline citation. More information is available on the non-free content page. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners.
- Paraphrasing: Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information in your own words. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources as appropriate.
- Image use guidelines: In most scenarios, only freely licensed or public domain images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide may help with determining a file's eligibility.
- Copyrighted material donation: If you hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Copying and translation within Wikipedia: Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. For translation, see Help:Translation § License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Diannaa (talk) 18:51, 23 November 2024 (UTC)

Battle of Sanaa (2014)
[edit]Hello. I took care of your move request at WP:RM/TR, but just wanted you to know, in case you don't already, that you should be able to do these kinds of moves yourself. As long as there is not more than one edit at the redirect that points back to the article to be moved, any autoconfirmed editor should be able to move that article over the redirect. Station1 (talk) 06:39, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
- when I try doing that I usually get an error Abo Yemen✉ 06:58, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
- You will get an error message when there are even just two edits at the redirect. But if there is just one - usually when the article has just been recently moved - you should be able to do it. Try it next time it comes up and let me know if it works for you or not. I'm not an admin and I was able to move that article. Station1 (talk) 07:03, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
- aha, ig i gotta wait for someone to move a page w/o consensus and ill try it out. Thanks for letting me know! Abo Yemen✉ 07:06, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
