[edit]

Hi -- there were lots of question marks where there should have been quotation marks, apostrophes and dashes in the article on Communism. The history shows that these were changed in the edit in which you added the "controversial" tag. I've reverted them -- this is just to let you know that whatever you did when you added that tag (cutting and pasting?) has some adverse side effects and should probably be avoided. Fpahl 19:12, 22 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Hi -- I've opened a section on this phenomenon here. Please post any insight you might have into what happened there. Thanks. Fpahl 18:46, 2 Oct 2004 (UTC)

I added the controversial tag using the appropriate wikicode. I dont even think you CAN C&P the tag in. Not without going into source. *shudder* --Oceanhahn 03:04, 4 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Communist template

[edit]

Just thought I'd let you know that I was impressed by the scope of [[Template:Communism]]. My only concern is that its sheer size may interfere with formatting in individual articles. Just a thought...Mackensen 06:33, 12 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Highly likely. I didnt go around throwing in into every article I saw for just that reason, although I did consider it. Perhaps I'll make a smaller one or a link or something...
Thanks for your input! --Oceanhahn 06:38, 12 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Have you considered re-orienting it, that is, having it be horizontal and then putting it at the bottom of articles? You'd have space enough, the only issue would be retaining the integrity of the content. Mackensen 14:53, 12 Oct 2004 (UTC)
That's a very good idea, thank you! I'll give it a shot when I next havethe chance! --Oceanhahn 23:33, 12 Oct 2004 (UTC)
It is done. What do you think? --Oceanhahn 10:21, 19 Oct 2004 (UTC)

"Communism" template

[edit]

Could you please fix the "Communism" template so that it won't force the text down a couple of screens on the page Communism? Someone keeps removing it on the grounds that it makes the article harder to read, and I think he does have a point, although I keep restoring the template and asking him not to remove it. Thanks for your help. Shorne 04:30, 24 Oct 2004 (UTC)

I'd be delighted to normally, and I've posted my "help" on the bottom of my user page. Personally, I thought this was a pretty good solution, but AndyL disagreed and cancelled the changes. What do you think? --Oceanhahn 08:18, 30 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Your help would be welcome...

[edit]

...over at the disputed Collectivism article. This dispute (which is between me and Sam Spade) is quite similar to what we've had on pages related to communism and other similar subjects. It also seems to drag on forever, with Sam insisting on adding POV statements as facts and myself insisting on removing them. -- Mihnea Tudoreanu 15:48, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)

I appreciate your request, but I have severe doubts that any input I have to offer would be recognized in any way (just about everything I do turns into a precieved 'flame' at some point, flame-warriors being stubborn as they are...), and in the interests of keeping discussion pages short, I'm afraid I'll have to decline for now. I've had a quick look at the discussion, and if I think I have something to add, I'll be sure to drop it in the chat, but until the gut-wrenching idiocy that sorrounds every shred of controversy on Wikipedia dies down to a dull roar, I think I'll resign myself to the backwater pages of garden implements and stubs about porn stars.

Fair use rationale

[edit]

Please give a fair use rationale for Image:Bertk.jpg, which you uploaded. Have a nice day. --Ellmist 19:58, 21 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Over thirteen months and only now do I notice this. Sorry for the late response; I cant even remember what the image was or where I got it. I presume it's of Bert Kaempfert, but that's about all. Whatever the case, I fully intend on having a nice day. Thank you. Oceanhahn 04:46, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Obfuscate email address

[edit]

It's up to you, but you might want to obfuscate your email address, like "president period prsw at gmail period com" to avoid spam email. --Ellmist 19:58, 21 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Punch the Keys for God's Sake

Remember how we've got the Light Fantastic and the Lazy Fantastic? Now we have the Angry Fantastic.

This is the comment from Alienus that has spawned the brand spankin' new Fantastic (in response to an addition I made to the discussion):

"I make an effort to be clear when I write, but that effort is not always rewarded. With all due respect, your response does not show an accurate understanding of what I've written. I'm not complaining that you disagree, I'm saying that you simply do not understand what I wrote. I could go point-by-point, but I'm not convinced that I should. If you didn't understand anything I wrote the first time, why should a second time be an improvement? Frankly, I am bothered by your baseless accusations and refusal to assume good faith, so I'm writing you off. - Al"

If I had the "M.P."s right now, oh boy would I be happy.

Certainly old man. I worked around the intro to conform more with atyle, and I added a smart little frame to the logo. That's all I can see that needs changin' up at this point though. -Yossarian 10:55, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Appeals to authority

[edit]

Why the heck does everyone try that? It's a loooogical fallacy! Ergh... Anyway, I added my two cents. If you get the time, cast your view/vote on this little mess: Wikipedia:Categories for deletion#Category:Dictators

Apparently it's good enough for Wikipedia. What a letdown. --Oceanhahn 14:06, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contribution

[edit]

Thanks for the cleanup and rewrite you did on the Rail transport page in mid-May! Much better now. Just as the first section had been a bit overly 'construction' oriented, the second section (General) seems to be a bit narrow by focusing nearly exclusively on 'efficiency.' I added a few words to broaden it to include capital-intensity, but I suspect there are several other significant dimensions of rail transport that are still left out. Happy to be of service! --Oceanhahn 21:44, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Batisuko-fu-screenshot.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
