From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ObscureAnomaly (born March 4, 1987) is a relatively-new Wikipedian from the U.S. state of Illinois.

Early Life

[edit]

ObscureAnomaly (her real name not being revealed for personal reasons) was born in Rockford, Illinois, which is along the Illinois/Wisconsin stateline border. She "clammed up" at age 2, and her maternal grandmother had suspected that she died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, but that wasn't the case (see Mental Condition).

Because her biological parents (who were teenagers when she was born) weren't married, ObscureAnomaly bounced around to various elementary schools while the custody issue was being resolved. At age 10, her grandmother took custody of her and officially became her legal guardian (until she turned 18).

She managed to graduate high school at age 18 like normal Americans and was one of the first in her family to do so. She was also one of the first in her family to go to college, a distinction she also shares with her maternal grandfather.

In 2006, she decided not to return to college (community college, by the way) until she had enough money to leave the house for privacy reasons. As of 2007, she is umemployed; she was previously employed as a Student Worker at a community college from November 2005 to June 2006.

Writing

[edit]

ObscureAnomaly took up creative writing as a late preteen. She had been known to scribble out a bit of what is now known as fanfiction. She parlayed this into not only e-wrestling (since April 2003) but also a few articles on wiki-type of websites.

As of March 2007, she has written up 4 profiles (to date) for the website AmIAnnoying.com and even wrote up an article for Wikipedia (List of Illinois Secretaries of State). She has also tempted to clean up some articles but may get into it full-time when she can muster the willpower to do so.

On March 9, 2007, she has started giving consideration to joining the WikiProjects for the U.S. Congress and U.S. Governors, although she has had little Wikipedia article-writing experience to date.

Mental Condition

[edit]

ObscureAnomaly was diagnosed at around 14 with Asperger's Syndrome, a mild form of autism that has been nicknamed "geek syndrome". Her family first saw problems during the "clam-up" at age 2 (see Early Life).

The diagnoses began in her preteen years, starting with hyperlexia, then with "schitzo-typo disorder". At around age 14, the diagnosis became Asperger's Syndrome; ObscureAnomaly wasn't so sure about what the disorder was until she looked it up on Wikipedia.

Speaking of mental conditions, ObscureAnomaly has been known to ponder things a lot. She has once even described her thinking process as a "mental cauldron."

Miscellaneous

[edit]

Politically, ObscureAnomaly is classified as a Hard-Core Libertarian, according to a quiz she took on OnTheIssues.org. She strongly opposes any reinstatement of a military draft, because she is well within the average age of a Vietnam-era draftee and if conscription were reinstated, she'd be likely to go off to war. (It should be noted that she tried signing up for the military in 2005 but was disqualified for being slightly overweight and having a "thought disorder"; either way, she is likely to be in their records. She has since been grateful for the disqualification after having found out about the Iraq War mess and the Walter Reed Medical Center controversy, although she abhors both and feels sorry for the soldiers that are involved in either or both.) She also thinks it'd be better if the U.S. just stuck to defending its territory and didn't try to implement regime change.

Her favorite sport is pro-wrestling, and she has thought that it should be offered in public schools as part of a self-defense curriculum in physical education, especially for young women. She also thinks Vince McMahon would make for a scary bald guy should he lose his hair at WrestleMania 23 (2007).

ObscureAnomaly has dreams of becoming a politician once day. She would like to be the first female to do something noteworthy, like Governor of Illinois (assuming that Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan doesn't beat her to that goal, especially in 2010) or President of the United States (assuming that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton doesn't become Clinton 44 in 2008 or Clinton # in later quadriennial Presidential elections).
