The Invisible Informer
The cover (perhaps the medium is watercolor) depicts a brunet man embracing a blonde woman while kneeling down. They are passionately gazing into each other's eyes. Very close by and off to the side is a brunette woman staring with disdain at the woman. All three are Caucasian and wearing emerald-colored 1940's hairstyles and clothes: the man a suit, the blonde a dress, and the brunette a business suit. They are encircled by a gigantic gold bracelet with many rectangular-cut emeralds. In the background, there is a gray house with a reddish roof and an unusual church-bell-tower-like structure and a large green tree under a yellow sky. The title "The Invisible Informer" is at the top in red uppercase block font with black outline (but the word "the" is in a script font). The whole title is slanted about 30 degrees with a counterclockwise tilt, with each word on its own line. In the lower right-hand corner are the movie details in black uppercase sans serif font. It starts with the top-billed stars "LINDA STIRLING" and "WILLIAM HENRY", each on their own line. Following those names are "ADELE MARA", "GERALD MOHR", "PEGGY STEWART" in a smaller font, with each actor on their own line and indented by one letter's width. Next (and not readable on Wikipedia's low resolution image) is "Directed by PHILIP FORD", "SCREEN PLAY BY SHERMAN L. LOWE", "ORIGINAL STORY BY GERALD DRAYSON ADAMS", and in larger font with the middle word in especially large font, "A REPUBLIC PICTURE". The Republic Pictures logo is found right above the word "PICTURE".

The Invisible Informer is a 1946 American action film starring Linda Stirling, William Henry, and Adele Mara. Produced by Republic Pictures, it was directed by Philip Ford and written by Gerald Adams and Sherman Lowe.[1]

Plot

Insurance investigators Eve Rogers and Mike Reagan are assigned to a Louisiana case involving a stolen emerald necklace, following a private detective's death. Disagreeing over how to work the case, Eve and Mike decide to do so separately, not revealing their true identities to their suspects, the Baylor family.

Rosalind Baylor confides that she and her mother despise brother Eric and relate how another brother, David, committed suicide. Eric takes a romantic interest in Eve, which becomes mutual, even though he is under suspicion. Mike, meantime, teams with Marie Revelle, a woman he meets, unaware that she is secretly Eric's lover.

David turns out to be still alive. But when he presses his brother Eric for his cut of the insurance loot, Eric kills him. Eric also murders Marie and has the same thing in mind for Eve after discovering who she really is, but a violent fistfight with Mike results in Eric's death and recovery of the necklace. Mike and Eve, relieved to be alive, realize they are in love with one another.
