Template:Is this a Dáil constituency article
This is a utility template for use with the {{Irish TD table begin}} series of templates.
It is intended for use only in other templates.
Purpose
Some of those {{Irish TD table begin}} series of templates need to behave differently when they are transcluded into a navbox. The metatemplate {{Constituency Teachtaí Dála navbox}} is used to create over 100 different navboxes, all based on transcluding the list of Teachtaí Dála (TDs) from the article on a Dáil constituency.
This utility template is used to detect whether the current page is an article about a constituency of Dáil Éireann.
If it not, these templates assume that the table has been transcluded into a navbox, and adjust their output accordingly. The differences include:
- references and footnotes are not displayed in a navbox
- a navbox for TDs should link only to TDs, so the navbox does not link elections, Dáil numbers, party names, etc.
For example, compare Cork North-East (Dáil constituency)#TDs with the derived navbox {{Cork North-East (Dáil constituency)/TDs}}.
Test
The standard test used by this template is whether the current page's name:
- is in the article namespace
- ends with the standard disambiguator
(Dáil constituency)
Two exceptions
Note that there are two exceptions to the title rule. The articles on Dáil Éireann's two 1918–1937 university constituencies cover their representation in several parliamentary chambers, so their article titles use the generic disambiguator (constituency)
This template recognises both the articles Dublin University (constituency) and National University of Ireland (constituency) as exceptions, and returns the answer yes
in both cases.
