Caltech–MIT rivalry

[edit]

Caltech's Fleming Cannon after having been returned to the Caltech campus

Created/expanded by Antony-22 (talk). Self nom at 05:56, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

  • Date, expansion size, overall referencing & quality, hook referencing, image copyright, all check out. Great article, I really enjoyed it! Constantine 22:05, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
  • By DYK rules, each fact in the hook must be inline cited no later than the end of the sentence containing the fact. In this case, end-of-paragraph citations are not sufficient. Even though it means duplication, please add specific citations for the cannon facts (weight and age), the stolen/transport 3000 miles facts (3000 ought to be in the body of the article, not just in the intro), and that this was specifically done as part of the rivalry. It's a great article, and I look forward to seeing it in a DYK set. BlueMoonset (talk) 17:18, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
I've added extra cites for everything except the 3000 miles figure, which I got from Google Maps. I believe this is considered common knowledge and doesn't need to be cited. Antony–22 (talkcontribs) 23:12, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
  • Restoring approval: made minor adjustments to one cite location and added a short phrase for the other to nail down everything. AGF that the 3000 figure doesn't need citing as common knowledge. Rest of review per Constantine above. BlueMoonset (talk) 06:49, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
