Standard text book

[edit]

I removed "When this 780-page book appeared in 1993, it quickly replaced "Model Theory" by Chang and Keisler as the standard textbook on model theory." and replaced it with "When this 780-page book appeared in 1993, it quickly became one of the standard textbooks model theory."

It might be difficult to cite either version. I think the second, weaker version is not controversial, but the origional seems to suggest that in 1994 Chang and Keisler was no longer considered a standard textbook. Bearing in mind that the choice of material and style is rather different, I think that many see these books as complementary texts - to say nothing of newer books like Marker or Poizat, or whatever your favorite is.
