F14 disaster
[edit]I'm still looking for info on the USS John Paul Jones F14 disaster, but so far all I have is the date (20 September 1995) and a video file for it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1alHJgbO3o0&search=explosion
Anyone know anything? teh TK 21:18, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
- From what I can tell watching the video, it looks like the F14 went supersonic directly over the ship and rolled sharply to the right a second later, which probably contributed to the jet ripping itself apart moments afterwards.. maybe a problem with the wings? I remember F14s have historically had issues with the pivoting system on the variable wings. teh TK 22:23, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
This is not the correct John Paul Jones. The ship in the video is a Arleigh Burke class destroyer, maybe you mean USS John Paul Jones (DDG-53)? --Dual Freq 14:33, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
