The whole Stanford site (based on a book) is worthwhile. I find this article especially interesting. -Pete Forsyth (talk) 06:33, 11 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Seed and Plant company

[edit]

When Sunset Magazine was started, did it have any connection with the Sunset Seed and Plant Company, which flourished in San Francisco in the 1890's?2600:1702:1D00:9A80:ED4F:9BAE:8440:FAF2 (talk) 23:17, 17 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

San Francisco has a western area called the Sunset District where, at one time land was cheap and a good place for such a business. Menlo Park, where the magazine started, was over an hour away in those days, and I don't think the magazine was involved in a commercial nursery business.--Quisqualis (talk) 07:19, 18 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sunset Magazine originated in 1898 in San Francisco and did not move to Menlo Park until the early 1950's, as indicated in the article. The Sunset Seed and Plant Company, also based in San Francisco had nurseries in Menlo Park in the 1890's. If anyone can confirm a connection between these two companies, it should merit a mention in the article. 2600:1702:1D00:9A80:584E:B663:1269:AEB1 (talk) 19:06, 18 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
