Caenolestes condorensis

[edit]

You wrote on the Condor shrew opossum "The Condor Shrew Opossum is only known from an isolated observation in southern Ecuador, and its taxonomic status is not yet well established." The first statement is true, of course, but as far as I know its status has never been disputed. Do you have a source for that statement? Ucucha (talk) 14:59, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The reason I wrote that is that I could not find any references to Caenolestes condorensis in any of the usual sources:
Most of these sites stay pretty up to date, so I assumed the reason it wasn't listed is that there wasn't yet enough data to establish its status as a distict species. Perhaps this was an erroneous conjecture though. The only site I was able to find it listed on was InfoNatura. Do you think I should remove or change the sentence? I think you should. The 1st link you give is the 1993 version of Mammal Species of the World (the new version will appear in November), so it's logical that condorensis is not yet included. The others aren't always up-to-date too, I think. Probably, most new mammals listed in the subpages of nl:Gebruiker:Ucucha/Nieuw are not listed there. I have removed the sentences in question. Kaldari 04:53, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
