WikiProject Gaelic Games?
[edit]This article has been added to Wikipedia:WikiProject Gaelic Games with the edit summary "Adding {{GaelicGamesProject}} per user request". Peter O'Connor was an athlete, who competed for the Gaelic Athletic Association when that association was largely concerned with athletics. He did not play Gaelic Games - football, hurling or handball. Scolaire (talk) 11:54, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
Team Controversy
[edit]"Ireland did not have an Olympic Committee, and the British Olympic Council claimed the three. On registering for the Games, O'Connor and his fellow-athletes found that they were listed as Great Britain, not Irish, team members" - I wonder why they took part if they were so offended? Was it compulsory? Querying that point has my BS radar on full alert. Did O'C really scale the flagpole? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.101.139.189 (talk) 22:30, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
A second point, I think the UK included Ireland at that time, so I guess Scotland also didn't have an Olympic Committee. Would that be right? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.101.139.189 (talk) 22:33, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- Peter O'Connor did scale the flagpole. here are a handful of references. As to your other questions, I don't see that they have any relevance to the article. Scolaire (talk) 20:29, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
