#1 most-viewed history

[edit]

I believe that this section of the page can be made more accurate:
- VEVO did not have that many views; back then, YouTube combined every single VEVO video and counted them as being under the main VEVO channel for its charts.
- emimusic's channel statistics (including views, subscribers, etc...) was inaccessible, essentially hiding it. Judging from viewable statistics from around this time, it is most likely that emimusic passed Machinima very soon after UMG lost the throne and that Rihanna never was #1.
- This is the #1 history that I have gathered: Smosh (2006), Judson Laipply (~2006 Jul 12), Smosh (~2006 Jul 30), CBS (~2006 Nov 22), Universal Music Group (~2007 Jul 14), Machinima (2013 Feb 16), emimusic (~2013 Mar 08), PewDiePie (2014 Dec 29), T-Series (2017 Feb 14). I can also show you my sources if anyone really needs them for some reason. Somebody500 (talk) 00:39, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Can we not delete this page?

[edit]

Because deleting this page seems like a bad thing to do considering it shows what the most-viewed YouTube channels are. Like, T-Series is the most-viewed because they were forcing it on Indians (I found that out on Reddit, don't remember where though). — Preceding unsigned comment added by LeonardoIannelliCOMPUTE (talkcontribs) 20:10, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Is T-Series, SET India and two Zee channels primary language Hindi or Hindi-Urdu (Hindustani language)

[edit]

I am a Urdu speaker from Pakistan never been to India and I understand language spoken in Indian movies and TV. Yet the language spoken by PM Modi in his speeches is foreign to me. He speaks Hindi. I speak Urdu. I understand Indian movies and TV so Indian movies and TV can't be in Hindi. Then Indian movies and TV language must be in Hindi-Urdu or Hindustani which is different from Hindi.

Here[1][2][3] is some of the sources that supports my view point that these channel language of choice is Hindi-Urdu or Hindustani. If you say these are not direct source then I would say the channel content is also from TV and Bollywood movies and not just created for only YouTube channels.

First Bollywood is an international film industry and second Indian television is popular in Pakistan so Pakistanis must speak Hindi but no Pakistanis speak Urdu. Besides Bollywood being popular among the South Asian diaspora, in far off locations, from Nigeria and Senegal to Egypt and Russia, generations of non-Indian fans have grown up with Bollywood over the decades, bearing witness to the cross-cultural appeal of Indian films. Indian cinema's early contacts with other regions became visible with its films making early inroads into the Soviet Union, Middle East, Southeast Asia and China. Why would Arabs and Persians be interested in the Bollywood movies because half the movie is in Urdu which borrows words from Arabic, Persian and many other languages. If the Bollywood movies were in Hindi, I as a Urdu speaker would understand nothing. Ahmedmahdi1 (talk) 16:11, 9 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

JA: I write dialogue in Urdu, but the action and descriptions are in English. Then an assistant transcribes the Urdu dialogue into Devnagari because most people read Hindi. But I write in Urdu. Not only me, I think most of the writers working in this so-called Hindi cinema write in Urdu: Gulzar, or Rajinder Singh Bedi or Inder Raj Anand or Rahi Masoom Raza or Vahajat Mirza, who wrote dialogue for films like Mughal-e-Azam and Gunga Jumna and Mother India. So most dialogue-writers and most song-writers are from the Urdu discipline, even today.

It is a known fact that Urdu has been willingly accepted and used by the film industry. Two eminent Urdu writers Krishan Chander and Ismat Chughtai have said that "more than seventy-five per cent of films are made in Urdu." It is a pity that although Urdu is freely used in films, the producers in general mention the language of the film as "Hindi" in the application forms supplied by the Censor Board. It is a gross misrepresentation and unjust to the people who love Urdu.
The "About" page of the youtube channels of SET India, Zee TV, Zee Music Company and SAB TV itself say that their language is Hindi, so there is no point of discussion for these channels.
What you are trying to claim is nothing new, there have been many discussions on the topic (see archives of Talk:Bollywood). If you want a consensus, please initiate a discussion at Talk:Bollywood. Untill then, we should stick to the precedence that Bollwood is primarily a Hindi-language industry. Pratyush (talk) 10:37, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Doesn't say anything about the language but what they mean is Hindi industry which is not always synonymous with Hindi language. For example, Hindi Belt doesn't mean only Hindi is spoken their as you know tons of languages are spoken their including Urdu that is why it is also called Hindi-Urdu Region.[1] Ahmedmahdi1 (talk) 15:14, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Ahmedmahdi1: Please don't revert edits without consensus. I have already mentioned there is no consensus for the change, in which case the original version (one with Hindi) should stay. And as you have been already informed on your talk page, either you should use sources on all the cells or use none at all. Pratyush (talk) 16:39, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have provided sources and you keep adding content without sources. Ahmedmahdi1 (talk) 23:46, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Ahmedmahdi1: The sources don't say anything about SET India or Zee channels while the "About" section of their channels mention their language to be Hindi. Pratyush (talk) 01:44, 18 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hold on a second, on one article you want me to get new consensus when I already got consensus days ago and on another article you want me to go back to previous consensus on Talk:Bollywood which is very old. Your are contradicting yourself in the same breath. Be little less bias please. Now take a look at my argument and sources. Have a nice day Ahmedmahdi1 (talk) 16:01, 18 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I will have to disagree to the opinion that any new consensus has been reached on the other article. I looked at the sources again at failed to find any mentions of the youtube channels of T-Series and others. Now I would request you to take a look at these sources (Economic Times Quartz) and tell me what do they say about the language used in T-Series and other channels. Hope you have a great day. Pratyush (talk) 04:30, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Economic Times says Hindi film industry and not Hindi language. Quartz says Hindi music pages and not Hindi language. You have not provided a single source where it says Hindi language. Provide a single source where it says Hindi language. Word Hindi can be used in many different ways. See this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindi_(disambiguation) Ahmedmahdi1 (talk) 15:55, 25 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hindi music pages means pages that contain Hindi language music. No brainer. Pratyush (talk) 18:00, 26 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Historical progression gap

[edit]

There is an uncontested gap of 6 year between the channels Jawed and Universal Music Group. If there is no information on the subject, at least an observation justifying it would be good. Sadly I didn't find any sources for this specific category. 191.183.200.176 (talk) 11:07, 11 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

By country

[edit]

Please make up your mind if PewDiePie is counted as SV (here) or US (there). –84.46.53.3 (talk) 01:59, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please update data

[edit]

Set India recently passed WWE and I don't see any changes yet.[1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Freak5 5 (talkcontribs) 15:06, 24 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Updated along with the rest of the list. Thanks, SportGuy002 (talk) 15:39, 24 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistent grouping of cells

[edit]

The grouping (using |rowspan= and |colspan=) is currently a complete mess in the table, I think we should make it more consistent. I'd personally opt for having less grouping, because that makes it a lot easier to maintain since every time rows are moved up or down you also have to update the rowspan. ―JochemvanHees (talk) 19:25, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Who is going to update the list? WWE has moved down theist and DisneyMusicVEVO is newest one on the list EricEgo2012 (talk) 14:06, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
