[edit]does anybody have any new that happened on this day and year? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.45.251.50 (talk) 16:40, 24 January 2007 (UTC).
Is the 1994 plane crash really notable enough for the box?
[edit]Where as the 1994 aircraft crash and the deaths of four people is noteworthy enough to include in the article and must have been tragic for all involved is it really noteworthy enough to be included in the mainpage box? Personally I would have thought something like Arnold's 1947 UFO sighting, which is not in the box yet would be more noteworthy both inside and outside the united states because it kicked off the UFO cultural craze that swept the world. Military plane crashes, either by enemy action, human error or safety failings are not uncommon and health and safety reviews of equipment and inquests happen after most of them. --Shearluck (talk) 21:57, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
I came to this page using Citation Hunt regarding the entry "1597 – The first Dutch voyage to the East Indies reaches Banten, Java.[citation needed][6]" There is a citation there but that page does not confirm this date or even the specific landing at Banten, Java. Another source I found uses the date June 27, 1596[1], while several others just say June 1596. A few 'This Day in History" type pages list June 24, 1957, the same way this page does, but without any reference material. All references I found said 1596, not 1597. I think this should be deleted until someone can find a reputable source with a correct, specific date.Tchouppy (talk) 20:50, 6 February 2019 (UTC)

Henry VIII
[edit]There's presently a line in this article that says: "1571 – English King Henry VIII commands his 4th wife, Anne of Cleves, to leave the court." But Henry VIII died in 1547. The linked citation appears to be in Latin, so I can't even see where this quoted portion could be attributed—or misattributed. Can someone verify the veracity of the source, and can we decide whether or not to include what appears to be an obviously false statement? 128.206.165.255 (talk) 14:30, 24 June 2021 (UTC)Casual Historian Editor
