Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on June 2, 2010.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that the Golden Cue Billiard Lounge is the only extant billiard hall in Albany, New York?

Viability of article

[edit]
Resolved
 – Article was improved and kept at AfD.

This is the ONLY billiards hall in Albany NY, that I know of. It would be a good article and source of information imho.]

I'll give you some time. A simple google search gets a newpapaer reference and some generic info sites, but nothing else. Those sources would be enough to pass CSD, but I think it would still be deleted after WP:afd. You should read WP:RS and WP:N while you edit. Whose going to search for this besides some Albany residents and people who live in the surrounding towns? Buggie111 (talk) 15:32, 1 May 2010
It's not necessarily a "search" issue; most articles like this would be found via cross-reference in other articles. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō Contribs. 00:04, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I shall do my best sir. This is obviously my first submission and am working in understanding the community. The time is appreciated, as would any edits. How do I write it as to not make it look like an advertisement? People outside the albany area would be interested, because if you do a search for the golden cue you will find people travel long distances to play there. I believe there have been national competitions there but I shall have to do more research to be sure. All feedback and help to make the article a good fit for wikipedia is of course appreciated. I just created thegoldencue.net as a personal favor. The site does not yet appear on google although it has been submitted to every search engine, it just went live last week.
Regards,
John VanDerwerken (just a patron of the pool hall)
I see that you've been using [7] as a reference. Copying and pasting from it is not allowed, but here's somthing that you could add to it:
The hall, which opened in 1962, is owned by Rocco Spinelli Jr, who gained ownership of the building from his father, Rocco Sr. It runs from 11 am to 2 pm,<ref>http://www.timesunion.com/specialreports/centralave/bestof/3best.asp</ref> and is located in [[Albany, New York]]. This still doesn't mean that WP:afd wil save it, but it's a shot. Buggie111 (talk) 16:48, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the quick feedback!
John VanDerwerken
That Spinelli stuff was kinda not very encyclopedic wording; I redid it. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō Contribs. 00:04, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Only hall in Albany

[edit]
Resolved
 – Just an FYI.

I've checked various directories like CitySearch and this really does appear to be the case. There's a downtown yuppie bar called Jillian's, described as "a complete dining and entertainment megaplex",[8] that has some some pool tables, but it is not a pool hall per se. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō Contribs. 01:03, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
