"Despite some controversy" in the Hughes Amendment

[edit]

I suspect that this page is a plausible landing for people hearing about said controversy and attempting to fact-check with wikipedia. This page is the redirect from "Hughes Amendment". Simply calling it a controversy is too sugar-coated and light on information from easily-cited reliable sources.

A: This section does not fact check the on-the-surface extraordinary claim that the outcome of the vote was reversed before being recorded -- which turns out to be a true claim verified by reliable sources.

B: This specific incident holds some political science value -- "How often are ethical abnormalities / rule violations in Congress recorded on C-SPAN? Is it more or less prevalent now versus the decades past?"

I also suspect it will be difficult to expand on the controversy in a neutral way while obeying WP:NOR, but this does not decrease the value of trying to make this article better. ExtremeSquared (talk) 05:21, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Where are the Repercussions of FOPA in the U.S. in this article?

[edit]

Where are the repercussions of FOPA in the U.S.? There needs to be a section on the consequences of FOPA that ratcheted up gun violence in the U.S. There's a substantial amount of documentation on this. It would also explain why so few guns are registered in the U.S. Even Blue states have virtually no registered guns. This law is the reason why so few guns are ever registered in the United States. This needs to be explained. Stevenmitchell (talk) 09:12, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest finding some reliable sources that mention what you are talking about in context to FOPA and listing the best ones here to discuss. DN (talk) 14:59, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Title Punctuation

[edit]

Shouldn't the title of this article be "Firearm Owners' Protection Act"? That's what it's called in the body of the article, and most online mentions of it seem to include the apostrophe as well. Oooooooseven (talk) 18:39, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
