[edit]

I am a university student currently attending University of Sydney.

Please don’t bite me <https://worddisk.com/wiki/Wikipedia:BITE>, I’m a newbie!

This page is a work in progress and I am approaching my subject in good faith <https://worddisk.com/wiki/Wikipedia:Assume_good_faith>.

I’m a student at the University of Sydney, studying Bachelor of Science/Advanced Studies in a Wikipedia Education class <https://outreach.wikimedia.org/wiki/Education/Countries/Australia>, and I’m currently learning how edit and contribute to Wikipedia. My tutor is Airbubbles 451.

@Chuuti: https://candidegardening.com/GB/plants/eaabf98455d9bdfef9c454fdb2e30e60 is not a reliable source so please do not continue to use it. If you are citing scientific papers that have a Digital object identifier (DOI) then see Help:Introduction_to_referencing_with_Wiki_Markup/3 - all you need to do to add a reference, is find the DOI and put it in the relevant box, click on the magnifying glass and all the other details will be filled in automatically. @Smartse: Thank for your input, I also noticed you removed a media article, I am in a bit of a dilemma because my tutors have set a requirement that I need to include a media article even if it may not be directly related. Would you have any suggestions to an appropriate media item? Thank you.Chuuti (talk)
Photos included should be of this species - adding a picture of roasted coffee does not provide any useful information to a reader. It doesn't seem as if there are any suitably licenced images of this species, so there's nothing to include at the moment. @Ajcwritwiki: Please note in regards to the lack of photos in the article. What?

[edit]

The current version of the article contains this sentence:

It was found to be the only caffeine-free plant in Central Africa, and the second to be found in Africa.

This means that all other plants that grow in Central Africa contain caffeine?

I have corrected this by clarifying the statement and adding a reference. Michael.C.Wright (talk) 22:35, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Cultivated in Costa Rica

[edit]

The last line of the article states "Coffea Diversa Farm in Costa Rica is currently cultivating C. charrieriana." There are two problems with the cited source:

  1. The cited article is sourced behind a gated section of the University of Sydney and therefore not generally available
  2. The original article does not support that statement. It does mention Coffea Diversa, but not "C. charrieriana," "Charrier," or "caffeine."

A quick search does not turn up any reliable sources supporting the statement.

Therefore, I would like to remove the statement and the citation unless someone has an objection along with a reliable source.

The original article titled "SPECIAL REPORT: Costa Rica, Taking Coffee Sustainability to a Higher Level" by Maja Wallengren can be found on the author's blog: http://www.spilling-the-beans.net/special-report-costa-rica-taking-coffee-sustainability-to-a-higher-level/

The original citation was likely placed by Chuuti who has done a significant amount of work on this article (thank you!) so I am pinging Chuuti in hopes they will weigh in on the discussion.

I have what seem to be claims by Coffea Diversa that they are not cultivating C. Charrieriana or C Stenophylla. I--DaveNevius--asked them, through a YouTube comment, if they are, and someone named Efac denied it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3aMIJd0MBs&lc=UgzRc4gUx3bhG0NM0FR4AaABAg.9Y07KcgC6Bu9pKo0TzaWAc
If it can be confirmed that Efac works for Coffea Diversa, then Coffea Diversa is not cultivating either species.
