Are they?

[edit]

"To facilitate towing on soft ground the wheels were often fitted with Bonagente grousers patented by the Italian major Crispino Bonagente"

Are these grousers? The grouser article states a grouser is a flange or extension on a plate intended to increase traction. In the images, the plates have nothing like this. Additionally, there is no reason for these wheels to have traction as they are not powered and do not move during firing (as one sees in the photos). These appear to be normal pedrail wheels, as seen on most artillery of the era. It is possible that additional grousers were fit during towing, but I'm not clear on their purpose in that case, and if this is the case, it should be clarified in the text.
