WP:NOTWEBHOST. If you want to send someone an email, do so, but don't turn it into a Wikipedia page left lying around for more than three years. Fram (talk) 09:23, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
- Comment -- When concerns over WP:WEBHOST were recently drawn to my attention I went through, in my mind, all the pages I had started in userspace. It seemed to me that this was the only userspace subpage I created that -- arguably -- lapsed from the spirit of WP:WEBHOST. Now maybe I still don't really understand the intent of WP:WEBHOST. But it seemed to me that it was intended to prevent wikipedia contributors from employing wikipedia resources for purposes that did not contribute to the project's goals. It seemed to me that a genuine lapse from WP:WEBHOST would be something like a webzine, written in the wikimedia's markup language, and sent to all their pals on the webzine's mailing list.
Lots of other contributors have justified brag pages -- userspace pages where they have expressed their pride in their activities, where they collect their barn-stars, and other signs other contributors have admired their contributions. They have justified these pages as being compliant with WP:User pages as steps that are good for their morale are good for the project, even if they don't directly contribute to specific wikipedia articles. To the extent those morale based arguments have been accepted for other contributors' pages they should be accepted for this page. Geo Swan (talk) 12:10, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
- Comment I dispute that this was an email, that I could have sent via email. This page was written as a teaching aide, intended to show a bright kid how they too could make a contribution to the project. As such it had to be written in the mediawiki markup language, and it had to be ready to be opened for editing, to illustrate how the wikipedia works, under the hood. I believe this is compliant with WP:User pages. Geo Swan (talk) 12:10, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
- Any reason why, three years on, this page should be kept? Fram (talk) 13:02, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
- Delete as per nom and WP:NOTWEBHOST. IQinn (talk) 07:07, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
- I am struggling to see how this could be helpful to the encyclopedia. However, I would say weak keep out of respect for a genuine contributor. Stifle (talk) 09:57, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
- Delete per WP:NOTWEBHOST and per WP:UP#Excessive unrelated content, which includes, "Extensive writings and material on topics having virtually no chance whatsoever of being directly useful to the project". I don't believe that this page is directly useful to the project, so it violates WP:UP. Cunard (talk) 09:59, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
- Delete per nomination and WP:NOTWEBHOST. --Yachtsman1 (talk) 05:12, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
