English: "Rescue of Sevier," an illustration depicting the escape of frontiersman John Sevier during his trial for high treason in North Carolina, in 1788. In the illustration, Sevier's fellow frontiersman, James Cosby, addresses the court, providing the distraction that allowed Sevier to escape.
