Yazid III was tenth independent Shah of Shirvan.[1]
Reign
He replaced his brother Muhammed. His reign is notable because of Persianization of culture. He continued expansionist policy of his brother. Shah attacked to Gyurzul castle in 999 and defeated it's ruler Abd-ul Barr Anbasah like his brother did before. He made several attempts to invade Derbent but couldn't succeeded. He was succeeded by his first son Manuchehr.
Issue
Yazid III had several offsprings. Most notable are:
- Shirvanshah Manuchehr I - Became shah in 991.
- Prince Anushirvan - Rebelled.
- Shirvanshah Ali II - Became shah in 1034.
- Shirvanshah Kubad - Became shah in 1043.
- Princess Shamkuyya - married to Derbant ruler Amir Al-Abdul Malik.
Rebellion of Anushirvan
While his father was in Gyurzul castle, Prince Anushirvan decided to revolt against his father in capital Yazdiyya. Citizens at first supported him but then turned against Prince and called Shah to city. Prince decided to retreat to Gulustan castle but killed on road.
