Looking for a game
Hi
I have been looking up several games from old consoles like the SNES and sega systems and i cant seem to find one particular game, im not sure which console it was on or of the name, but you start off as one character and as you go through the levels to have to fight other characters and you get to use them and their special abilities so you can finish the game, i think you start of as a snow man things with blue clothes thats head butts and i know there is another character that swims in water. If you would be able to tell me of give any information on this game i would be grateful and if you need more information i will try and see what else i can come up with.
Regards,

Who wrote the science-fiction short-story called "Penicillin"?
Who wrote the science-fiction short-story called "Penicillin"? I read this story some years back, and I am trying to locate it. But searching the web with Google is not helping. --Masatran 12:23, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

- Possible Fictional Author, 'the greatest Sci-Fi author of all time Kilgore Trout' by Kurt Vonnegut. There is some reference of Kilgore writing a story on two pieces of yeast having a conversation, and a reference on something about how he couldn't take penicillin in Breakfast_of_Champions. --i am the kwisatz haderach 20:46, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

A site with a lot of musical ripof-- I mean, inspirations?
Particularly sites for songs that are similar in structure to The Beatles, and lesser so, The Pixies. Such as, Why don't you get a job? by The Offspring is extremely similar to Ob-la-di by The Beatles, and the chorus riffs in Back Seat Dog by The Pillows and Here comes your man by The Pixies are exactly the same (in fact, the next song on that particular album is titled "Kim Deal". Lesser so, examples from other bands, like The Rubinoos#Lawsuit, where even if the resemblance isn't intentional, it is noticeable --lucid 13:21, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- Also, not quite as interesting, does anyone know of sites that specialize in hosting song mashups? Youtube has some, but they don't have categories for this stuff, and there's no consistent keyword for them --lucid 13:31, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

"The Office" Character Inquiry
Hello,
Quick question. What is the name if the IT Technician's character on The Office. He is a recurring character that Michael does not like (he even went as far as to hide and turn off the lights of the office in an effort to evade him). I cannot remember the character's name to save my life. Help!
Thanks,
D. Jennings —Preceding unsigned comment added by Djcurtis (talk • contribs) 21:16, August 30, 2007 (UTC)
- The character is not named in our List of characters from The Office, and as best I recall, only appeared in one episode ("E-mail Surveillance") and was not named. — Lomn 21:21, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- This page says that "IT Tech Guy" ("Information Technology Technology Guy"???) was played by Michael Naughton. Cross referencing that with the IMDB page for this episode gives us the character name "Chris". Clicking through to Michael Naughton' IMDB page only listed the one appearence on The Office. --LarryMac | Talk 16:02, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Arthur Beckerman, Beezles
Hi, my Aunt used to have a children's book called "When the Beezles Got the Measles" by Arthur Beckerman. It was published around 1964. My question is, what happened to Arthur Beckerman? I've tried to get a copy of the book, and there weren't very many published so they are horribly expensive. Did he just write the one book and dissapear? |149.155.96.5 14:47, 31 August 2007 (UTC) Aimee
- Wow. I see what you mean. New copies at amazon go for $275. Used copies at abebooks go for $300 and $400! Corvus cornix 16:46, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
- Actually those are used copies at Amazon. Impressive prices for a 36-page book!
- Neither [1] (the Library of Congress) nor [2] (Worldcat) lists any other books by Arthur Beckerman besides this one. [3] (the British Library) has nothing for him. Worldcat's "identity page" for him mentions the one book, of course, but has no other information about him. So it does seem as though this was indeed his only book. On a Google search for his name, there are about 50 hits but nothing to indicate whether they are the same Arthur Beckerman unless they are talking about the specific book. The first hit does give something else written by an Arthur Beckerman: a 2002 article in an online publication called "The Jewish Magazine" comparing Yasser Arafat to Adolf Hitler. As I say, no indication of whether this might be the same guy. --Anonymous, 03:54 UTC, September 1, 2007.

Name a song
what song is playing in this video.
I'd probably warn you its fairly distressing content of the recent events involving Antonio Puerta. ΦΙΛ Κ 22:37, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- Why not read the comments on the video? According to TheJ00ker the song is from Requiem for a dream by Clint Mansell Feat Kronos Quartet and the song is called Lux Aerterna. Why doesn't someone make similar videos for Ray Jones or Clive Clarke? That would be really tasteful. :( slυмgυм [ ←→ ] 20:50, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

the canonical blockhead
I'm watching the seminal 1931 film of Frankenstein and wondering about the now-familiar shape of the monster's head. Does the book suggest anything of the sort? Was it original with that production? Is there any known reason for it? —Tamfang 03:58, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- No; yes; this quote from this page is illuminating:
- The creation of Boris Karloff's mask, which has become the ultimate image of the Frankenstein Monster, is mainly the work of Universal's chief makeup artist Jack Pierce. Whale, who was also an artist, had drawn sketches of Karloff, which were closely followed by Pierce. Sketches provided by other make-up artists depicted the Monster as an alien, a wild man or a robot, but Pierce and Whale wanted him to have a "pitiful humanity" (4). In 1939 Pierce revealed how he designed the mask:
- "I did not depend on imagination. In 1931, before I did a bit of designing, I spent three months of research in anatomy, surgery, medicine, criminal history, criminology, ancient and modern burial customs, and electrodynamics. My anatomical studies taught me that there are six ways a surgeon can cut the skull in order to take out or put in a brain. I figured that Frankenstein, who was a scientist but no practising surgeon, would take the simplest surgical way. He would cut the top of the skull off straight across like a potlid, hinge it, pop the brain in , and then clamp it on tight. That is the reason I decided to make the Monster's head square and flat like a shoe box and dig that big scar across his forehead with the metal clamps holding it together."
- That's the goods all right! Thanks. —Tamfang 21:13, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Ska Question
As I listen to more of the 3rd wave stuff from my childhood, I see veins of resemblance between the bands, e.g. Aquabats, Reel Big Fish and the like. There's just this certain quality I can't pin down...I suspect that it has to do with a similar chord progression or the way the horn lines are written. So I ask this---in the 3rd wave ska idiom, are there certain commonly used chord progressions? I'd also like to know if the horn lines are written more in unison or in harmony.
Oh, and this is sort of a random question, but somewhat to do with ska...in Tony Hawk Pro Skater (the first one) there's this song I remember that I can't recall the title of...it started off with "Ay ya ya ya YA!" and then the drums and everything else came in. No horns as I remember either...Aquaman590 04:50, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- THPS soundtrack listing here; I can't remember the specific track, but I remember it having some great songs :-) Rawling4851 22:10, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
What is this perspective called?
3D RPGs generally have the same perspective, what is it called? I'm not thinking of a top down perspective. In this perspective you get a full view of the character. It's seen in many games like Final Fantasy 6. Doppelganger 19:22, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- I've heard the term "Two-thirds perspective" used for games like Diablo, where the viewer is seeing the game at an angle like that. -- 68.156.149.62 21:20, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
It's called dimetric projection, though it's often mislabeled as isometric. Our article on isometric projection covers part of this issue. Also, note that the "two-thirds perspective" is talking about the camera angle on the dimetric projection (30° and 45°). — Kieff | Talk 01:28, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
- Isometric is a special case of dimetric, and dimetric is a special case of orthographic projection. —Tamfang 09:12, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

True Colors cover in Peugeot (407?) advert
Random question. Some time ago there was an advert for a Peugeot car - possibly a 407 after some googling, but just as likely not - that featured a cover of True Colors in the background. The advert involved a girl, a guy and a shark attack :-p I've looked in the past and not satisfied myself that I've found the correct version (just imo plain better than other versions). If anyone could tell me the artist... I'm just worried it was only done for TV and I won't be able to find a recording. Rawling4851 22:03, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- See True_Colors_(song)#Covered_by. If it was a very sparsely produced version by a girl with a stunning voice, odds are it was Eva Cassidy's version. --Dweller 12:54, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
A thorough manga question...
I like the Naruto manga. I've calculated when Naruto's Part II aura would end by putting in the number of the final chapter of Kakashi Gaiden (244) and the number of the final chapter of Part I (238). I thought that if Part I ended with 238 chapters, then Part II may end with 238 chapters as well. My little math problem with the chapter numbers equaled to an answer: chapter 482. So, would chapter 482 be where the Part II saga ends in Naruto? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sirdrink13309622 (talk • contribs) 23:39, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- Rraaargh! Why does the final chapter number of Kakashi Garden matter if you're just going to double the number of total chapters in Part 1 and arbitrarily attribute that same number to Part 2? Your decisions in math and inference of the intentions of your manga-ka are correct! 482 will be the total number of chapters at the end of Part 2, and 1190 will be the total number of chapters before the release of Part 6. Otherwise, it's impossible to tell and there might be any number of chapters in each of the subsequent parts, including the one you're reading now. 72.209.7.199 01:21, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

The Capital One "I'm Tired Of No" commercial
I'm having trouble finding it on YouTube.
A customer, in a gruff, angry voice, says "I'm tired of no!" and "I'm gonna get you." It just so happened that he was on a cellphone in an elevator in the same building, looking for the guy in the cubicle in person. David Spade describes the clothes the main co-worker is wearing in order to send the angry customer after the wrong man.
Can someone link me the video I'm looking for? Thanks. --70.179.175.240 17:55, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Radio Luxembourg
The disambig page Radio Luxembourg suggests that there are/were several stations by this name tarnsmitting in different languages. Surely they are all one "station" - especially since they share wavelengths - with several different language "services". Is my understanding right and does the page need a resultant tidying up? -- SGBailey 07:55, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
- Looks fine to me. The editors of that and related articles seem to have gone to considerable trouble to distinguish the different language broadcasts, so the best place to discuss this would be at Talk:Radio Luxembourg.--Shantavira|feed me 15:41, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
TV ratings
Hi. I have two questions on the same subject: The first one I have is What is the name of the company (and the website) who keep track of TV ratings in Canada, like Nielsen Ratings do for America, and BARB in the UK.
Second, I've been looking at the Nielson website for the ratings of specific TV episodes from a year ago, they don't seem to have it. Is there anywhere on the internet who archives this information, and for Canadian shows, too? Thanks -- Matthew Edwards 21:17, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
