Catscan 2

First of all, thank you for your work on the tools in wikimedia labs. I would need to use catscan 2 for a schoolar work but I saw this morning the tools was down. Do you have time to fix it ?

Thank you.

Move-to-commons assistant

Hello, I get an error with the Move-to-commons assistant

Language: de.wikipedia.org Image: Mandingoschwert.JPG Wikisense: YES direct transfer: YES

Output:

Querying CommonSense ...done. Querying image data ...done. Retrieving image description ...done. ERROR:

--Avron (talk) 07:11, 28 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Improved error message output. Commons API says the file mime type is "text/html". No idea why; file might be damaged, or API broken. --Magnus Manske (talk) 09:11, 28 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The error is still making direct uploads impossible: ERROR: This file did not pass file verification: Files of the MIME type "text/html" are not allowed to be uploaded. A normal jpg like https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datei:August-Buchner.jpg (and several other files I tried) --WolfD59 (talk) 16:27, 24 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

ListeriaBot

Ciao Magnus Manske,

I have a discussion on NlWp where this bot is active without UserPage. I assume you handle it there as well. Perhaps on other projects too? I wanted to change the column headers into Dutch (was a mix of Dutch, Dunglish and English before. It's placed in the UserNamespace of User:Jane023. The discussion is spread on my own, her and User:Natuur12's TalkPages. Can you help in one of two ways:
  1. am I right or wrong?
  2. repair the bot so it's using only the language of the project where it's located? — Preceding unsigned comment added by KlaasZ4usV (talkcontribs) 12:56, 5 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi KlaasZ4usV,
  1. You are right that it works on nlwiki. Current list is ru, nl, fr, de, en, and wikidata. I have bot accounts on some of them, but since the bot is only editing pages where specifically requested (by putting a template), and it is extremely low-volume, I don't see botflags as a critical issue
  2. By default, the column headers should be loaded from the wiki laanguage, with a few hardcoded excaptions (e.g. "article"). The column titles can be manually set in the header template, as explained here. --Magnus Manske (talk) 13:53, 5 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your adequate answer. If it's hardcoded 'Article' could be replaced by the international word lemma (indeed preferrably lowercase for esthetical reason unless all column-headers are initial uppercase). In general however I would avoid any expression in a bot that's supposed to work in all languages and all projects written directly in the code as plain text. Think of Greek, Cyrillic and other scripts that don't use the Latin script. Wikimedia is much more than "just" Wikipedia. My €0.02 with kind regards from Italy,  Klaas `Z4␟` V 06:52, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I created m:User:ListeriaBot so now the user page is shown globally if it does not exist locally. On ca.wiki the bot is not working anymore, even if I try a manual update it does nothing. --Vriullop (talk) 08:41, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It is working again on ca.wiki. Thanks for your work, it is great. --Vriullop (talk) 08:53, 10 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

ListeriaBot for Portuguese

Hey Magnus! Could you make the tool work for Portuguese too? E.g.: https://tools.wmflabs.org/listeria/index.php?action=update&lang=pt&page=Usu%C3%A1rio%28a%29:He7d3r/Testes Helder 16:18, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Done. I need to fix your coordinate template though.--Magnus Manske (talk) 18:41, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I saw it in action. Which template is broken? Helder 18:41, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Image removed but not its description

[1]. -- Magioladitis (talk) 08:43, 10 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Probably because of the broken syntax. Sjoerd de Bruin (talk) 21:21, 19 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tool

This tool is really useful.[2]

Anyway we can use categories for articles that exist on the article's talk page? For example I am trying to determine which of these articles are missing in Japanese [3]

Wikidata list features

Hello Magnus, thanks for Wikidata list!

Here is an example on French wikipedia fr:Projet:Pyrénées-Orientales/Wikidata/Dolmens. I have found some features which may improve this great tool.

  1. If "coordinate location" is "unknown value", the bot writes {{Coord|<|s|display=inline}} into the list. I wish it wrote "unknown value" (or "valeur inconnue" in French if the page is on French WP, but "unknown value" is good enough). I mean: the value is "really" unknown, it is not because I didn't find them, the sources say they don't know exactly where were some dolmens, which is destroyed.
  2. I don't know if you could add a "Also known as" column, as it depends on the language?
  3. On WP, we need sources. Is it possible to add the page when we use a "described by source" column? See "dolmen de la Siureda" in the example above.

I think these features may be useful in many lists, mightn't they? --El Caro (talk) 08:15, 28 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

catscan fatal error

There's the following error now on a CatScan report that has been running perfectly well for many weeks.

The CatScan call was this from the wt:Canada talk page discussion about disambiguation: this CatScan query on Canada's dablinks (to run it again, hit "Do it" at bottom; scroll down to see results below the query)

Sorry about not following your preference about BitBucket....I might have once used it successfully but this time i can't figure out how to start it. Maybe i need to be logged in to be able to open a thread. Anyhow.

But on the plus side, I did contribute editing to the English language CatScan Manual not long ago. :)

Thank you for your providing and maintaining this wonderful tool. sincerely, --doncram 21:56, 28 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Morbid map

The article Morbid map has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

More categories in BaGLAMa

Hi Magnus,

Could you please add commons:Images from Wiki Loves Earth 2015 in France to BaGLAMa 2 ? I suppose the whole bunch of WLE categories would be worth adding, too.

Regards,

--EdouardHue (talk) 18:04, 6 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, didn't see the notive about Bitbucket. Reposted the request there. --EdouardHue (talk) 20:21, 7 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicity

Hi Magnus; thanks for creating Duplicity, which has made one aspect of maintenance on cywiki so much easier. The cywiki list has a lot of item-less articles on plants and animals, by their Latin names. Is there a way of matching articles up quickly with Wikidata items that have labels or aliases identical to the article titles? Cheers, Ham II (talk) 16:11, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

355 matched. Missing items list will update tonight. --Magnus Manske (talk) 21:20, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Ham II (talk) 22:10, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

catscan gives error

Catscan gibt mir nach sehr langer Wartezeit (>100s) einen 502-Fehler (Bad Gateway), der sich im Body als 404 ausgibt, und teilweise nach ca. 600s einen 504 (Gateway Timeout). --nenntmichruhigip (Diskussion) 14:58, 10 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicity at lvwiki

Hi, Magnus! Thanks for the great tool.

I have dropped number to zero at lvwiki and then found that Duplicity doesn't show ~100 unconnected articles from the main namespace. You can see this list at the top of lv:Dalībnieks:Voll/6 page. Could you imagine, please, why it happens? Thank you. --Voll (talk) 12:35, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
