Stan Robinson[1] known as Substantial is a rapper from Prince George's County, Maryland. He now operates out of Virginia.[2]

Career

Substantial gained prominence after collaborating with Japanese Hip-Hop producer Nujabes (Jun Seba). Substantial collaborated with Seba until his death in a car accident in 2010. Since then Substantial has produced albums on Seba's production company Hydeout Productions.

Substantial's released his debut album, To This Union a Sun Was Born in collaboration with Nujabes. The album reached the top-10 charts of Japanese music.[3]

Collaborating with Nujabes once more, Substantial's music was featured on the Japanese anime TV series Samurai Champloo.[4]

Substantial now records as a member of the company QN5 Music.[5]

Recently Substantial has worked with the American TV station VH1 to fund music studios for under-privileged youth.[6]
