Jacob Fearnley (born 15 July 2001) is a British tennis player. He has a career high ATP singles ranking of world No. 271 achieved on 24 June 2024. He also has a career high doubles ranking of No. 238 achieved on 20 May 2024.[1]
College career
Fearnley plays college tennis at Texas Christian University.[2]
Professional career
2023: Major debut in doubles
He won his maiden ATP Challenger doubles title at the 2023 Nottingham Open with Johannus Monday.[3] The pair received wildcards in doubles for the 2023 Wimbledon Championships.[4]
2024: ATP and Major and top 250 debuts in singles
He won his first singles ATP Challenger title at the 2024 Nottingham Open as a qualifier, defeating compatriot Charles Broom in the final.[5][6] It was only Fearnley's second appearance in the main draw of an ATP Challenger event. He became the fourth Brit to win the trophy after Andy Murray (2023), Dan Evans (2019 & 2022) and Greg Rusedski (1997 & 2003).[7]
Ranked No. 270, he made his ATP debut at the 2024 Eastbourne International as a wildcard.[8] He lost to compatriot and fellow wildcard Billy Harris.[9][10]
For his Grand Slam singles debut, he also received a wildcard for the 2024 Wimbledon Championships.[11][12] He recorded his first Major win over debutant Alejandro Moro Canas and moved 50 positions up into the top 220 in the rankings.[13] In the second round, he took a set off Novak Djokovic before losing by three sets to one.
