The German Democratic Union was a left-wing political party. She was actually only in Saarland active. The DDU was founded in 1955. At the Saarland state election in 1960 she won two seats. Erich Walch and Erwin Gieseking became members of the state parliament.
After the election she joined to the German Peace Union. At the state election in 1965 they failed the re-entry in the state parliment as the state association of the DFU.
