Regardless of our incomplete article on the subject, a drawknife can also be used for metal. The rake angle is very different, and the steel needs to be much harder than the sword. They didn't have European-style files in Asia, but used the "sen" instead, which can only be translated as a drawknife. (Not to mention, it makes it far easier to control the blade angles with it than with a file.) undo
