The 2020 United States House of Representatives elections were held on November 3, 2020, with special elections throughout the year. Elections were held to elect representatives from all 435 congressional districts across each of the 50 U.S. states, as well as six non-voting delegates from the District of Columbia and the inhabited U.S. territories. Numerous other federal, state, and local elections, including the 2020 presidential election and the 2020 Senate elections, were also held on this date. The winners of this election will serve in the 117th United States Congress, with seats apportioned among the states based on the 2010 United States Census. Democrats have held a majority in the House of Representatives since January 3, 2019, as a result of the 2018 elections, when they won 235 seats.

Leading up to the 2020 elections, the Democrats were projected by many polls, including Republican and independent ones, to expand their House majority by as many as 15 seats due to nationwide attitudes over the COVID-19 pandemic. However, although the Democrats retained control of the House, Republicans exceeded expectations, mostly winning back seats they lost in 2018 and shrinking the Democratic majority overall while successfully defending competitive seats in suburbs that the Democrats hoped to flip. It is believed the Republican over-performance was due to the party's messaging and President Trump being on the ballot which fueled high Republican turnout.[1][2][3][4][5] With two races still undecided weeks after the election, the incoming House majority is projected to be the smallest for any party since 2000, when the Republicans won 221 seats;[1] and the smallest for the Democrats since 1942, when they won 222 seats.
